The above comparison led to a massive debate last year on here about whether he was as good as those 3 players at the age of 22. It wasn't often pointed out that Gerrard and Scholes were playing in League and European trophy-winning sides at that age and being standout players.
You can't compare any of them fairly, because you know how good the others turned out, and won loads.
If Ross finishes his career on the same page as those three, he's done the business and also would have got lucky with injuries.

Not sure how I feel about him staying, if he signed the contract within a week fair enough, but definitely not if he leaves it until the end of the window to see if he has any better options. Nah.

Why? That could indicate the board offered him better terms and he accepted.

It's a career, he is entitled to make the best choice for his career when they come about. Sure, I think he's stupid if he goes, but I don't blame him one bit for at least looking around and seeing if there's a better career option.

He's gone, by the way, so this is all moot. I have no doubt now he'll be at another club in 2-3 weeks.

Im glad Koeman has said that, as the first stance of he will 100% be sold gives the buying club a huge advantage. If we make it clear that if we dont accept a respectable offer that he will stay, clubs may make realistic offers.
I've said before, we need to get close to our valuation of Ross if we are to sell this window, especially as it is very likely to be to one of our main competitors. No way should we be selling cut price on deadline day to Spurs or anyone else.

If need be we should bite the bullet. OK, we lose out on £15m/20m/25m. But there is a lot of brinkmanship going on this window and the last thing we need is Spurs being seen to put one over on us. Plus they will have a player capable, on his day, of winning games, when he could have been winning games for us. The turnover in points could, just could, be the difference between 4th and 5th. Who knows.

Anything upward of £30m I'd probably accept. In the current climate even that is a bargain for somebody of his quality.

See when this turns out to be false, it'll be "clubs are just waiting until January to get him even cheaper, then the bidding war will start"

Yes mate, because the more likely scenario is nobody wants Barkley and he'll playing for Bognor Regis next season.

"I didn't know if I wanted to score the penalty" - the Captain of our club, in post-match interview after FA Cup semi win against Man U. All the other players celebrating and he looked gutted. I think he went to miss, which is probably why he scored.

"A club like Everton... finishing 7th is like winning the league"

The man is a [Poor language removed] car crash. Talentless, horrible b*stard. Cannot understand any blue who doesn't despise him!
As someone said earlier
He is a finger pointing son of a sex pest

Kick started two of our seasons with crunching tackles.

I don't mind him at all. Don't love him or anything but he seems a nice enough bloke.

As for the 7th place thing, that's probably more of the managers mindset than anything.

Better that by Koeman, puts any negotiations back in our favour, he should have said that from the beginning of this drama. It also gives Ross a chance at a u-turn and stay with the club.

I could go into a long debate with you about this and we would go around in circles. The crux of the post though was that Ross isnt deemed as good as some here are making him out, I guess we will just have to wait and see where he ends up.

The football world knows he has refused a contract, clubs are always interested in top talent, especially at the right price, let's see who bites.
Genuine question do you think he has turned down £23.9 million in wages from us on the off chance one of the teams he would like to join might bid for him?
