You do all realise that it would be very much in Moshiri's interest to spin this as Ross being a rat to take the heat off himself and the board for failing to sign a well known striker and CB?
Um, Rooney and Keane? Sandro.
Let's not spin out of control cause this didn't end as perfectly as we all hoped, but this was a pretty damn good window for an Everton fan in my opinion.

They sign the papers before the medical, known as a deal sheet - it's the last step. He had literally signed for Chelsea, everything else was a formality.

The contract isn't official until it's submitted after the process is complete.

Yes but at a point where either party can still pull out no matter what prior agreements or signing has taken place, the deal isn't complete is it? You cannot say the deal is literally complete if it isn't. So he is still free and able to pull out and that's what he did when he realised what was going on.

I didn't say it was literally complete; I said he had literally signed a contract.

You are right we did sign them but even after those deals were completed it was my impression from Koeman that he really wanted a big name striker and a left footed CB in addition. I agree our transfer window started out very well but I think those two positions are going to be big weaknesses in the squad if we want to go far in the cups.

What gave you that impression? Was it Koeman himself saying he wanted those two in the last two weeks?

(Not towards you LL, just can't stand people making excuses for how stupid this window ended)

Sure, but which well-known striker and CB did he fail to lure to Everton? Even though clubs and players know we're minted now, could well be the quality of player needed just wasn't available without the club getting totally bent over. Look at the Sigurdsson saga.
Not claiming it at all easy mate but we've known Lukaku has been leaving for some time and so a bit disappointing that it wasn't addressed.

You're probably right.

The lad is an absolute disgrace.

Everton are the team that discovered him, nurtured him and stuck by him during that leg break as a kid.

He'd be nothing without us.

He simply has to sign a new contract in the coming months.

If he does not he would never be able to set foot in the City ever again, should he leave the club for 0.

It is unthinkable that an Evertonian could behave in such a manner.

With sensibility and good will, this imbroglio should readily be solved.
But neither party should burn bridges until cool heads can navigate mutually beneficial egress (contractually).

This has nothing to do with any other player, signed or not. This is about Ross Barkley. He has said nothing, he has signed nothing, he has kept most Evertonians on his side as a result. He knows that we will lose money by his behaviour, we had reduced his price. Chelsea made a decent offer, the champions, in the CL, offering the highest wages, in London, and he screwed us again. Forget Moshiri, this is down to Ross. Even if he comes out tomorrow and says he loves the club and will sign for nothing I would get shut, he has treated the fans, you and I, abysmally. Torches and pitchforks are too good for him.......this is the club we love and he is taking the piss.........
Perhaps so Pete but forgive me if I'm going to wait awhile and see what info comes out before joining you brandishing a torch.

And why should I forget Moshiri - he has overall far more influence on the clubs future than Ross irrespective of whether Barkley stays or goes. He set out clear goals and only partially achieved them for the second summer transfer window in a row. I find that far more unsettling for the clubs future long term than the decisions of a 23 year old.

He hasn't had a year to choose between Chelsea and Spurs. He's had a year to choose whether he wants to sign a new contract or not.
He made that call a long time ago, he decided he dosent want to stay at Everton, which is why he was even dealing with Chelsea, Peteblue is right
