2017/18 Ross Barkley

It was alrready out there that his hamstring injury was the worse kind and he'd be out for 3 months..

But even if the extent of the injury came as a surprise to them, Chelsea would just pull out of the deal or delay it until Jan. Nobody would blame them for that. There is no wsy that they would stand by and allow all the blame, and subsequent fallout that goes with it, to rest with the player. There is absolutely no benefit to them to do this.

No. This is all the player and his agents doing. A very small part of me is clinging on to the hope that he really has had a U turn and wants to stay at Everton. But his nonsense twitter comments yesterday pretty much put paid to that.

I'd be very surprised if he played for the club again

Certain journalists are reporting Chelsea did indeed just pull out of the deal and whilst the injury was out there the extent but that 3 months recovery time is now some suggesting as being optimistic with 4-5 months being more realistic.
Time will tell what happens in January but as for blame being heaped on the player other than Everton supporters who else within football is throwing pelters at RB?
Chelsea as a club say very little in official statements about transfers the press no doubt get fed the odd snippet but if he does remain a trarget for Chelsea they won't hang the player out to dry they surely would be looking to support the player.

He is injured until December, its not going to affect his world cup chances at all. He will more than likely get his move in January when he regains full fitness.

If i was Chelsea or Spurs, i would not have bought him now. Pay a higher fee for an injured player or wait till January and get him on a lower fee.

It's not hard to work out.
Not sure about that. Chelsea were prepared to buy him now, and he jibbed them off. Can't see them coming back in for him in January. Spurs may well come in for him in January but will we accept their offer which I guarantee will be offensively low? They may also decide to leave it until the summer when they can get him for free anyway.

No, in my opinion Ross has taken a huge gamble with his WC ambitions and I wouldn't be shocked if he doesn't play a top level game all season.

Isn't January pre contract time?

Why would anyone pay us money now?

Here's FIFA rules regarding players coming to the end of their contracts

A club intending to conclude a contract with a professional must inform the player’s current club in writing before entering into negotiations with him. A professional shall only be free to conclude a contract with another club if his contract with his present club has expired or is due to expire within six months. Any breach of this provision shall be subject to appropriate sanctions.

All contracts run to 30/6 so yes from 1/1/18 clubs can talk to him.

There are all sorts of complications regarding the signing of a pre contract but one thing you can't stipulate in a binding pre contract (following rulings from the Dispute Resolution Centre at FIFA ) is that the offer is subject to either a medical or if appropriate a work permit.

Not heard the 4-5 months rumours. Must be one bad injury if true.

But the rest doesn't make sense mate. If Chelsea pulled out because of the injury they would just say so. I'm absolutely 100% convinced that it was Barkley who pulled out of this. Not sure why but nothing else makes any sense. Why on earth would the lad himself say it was his decision when it wasn't? We know he isn't the sharpest but even so.

Reminds me of a time in school when somebody attached a johnny to a tap and turned the water on and it blew up in the chemistry teachers face. This lad (who didn't do it) for some reason owned up to it, and the teacher completely lost it and battered him all round the class room with a 3 foot long wooden ruler. Funniest thing I ever saw.:)

Only for clubs outside the U.K.

For foreign clubs yes.

Depends if they want him straight away. Depends also if Barkley wants to play this season.

Doesnt apply to players in the same country mate. An overseas club could agree a pre contract.

Fair enough.

Explains why these 12 month players were going for more money then .

I blame fifa for educating me wrong haha

Just read something that actually makes a bit of sense. In the Times.

Ross was in London on deadline day, hoping for a move to Spurs. He was told that EFC and Chelsea had agreed a fee for him, but he just didnt fancy his chances at Chelsea/Conte. He knows this move is pivotal, and just didnt see the evidence of Conte bringing on younger players that he has seen with Potch. Ergo, better chance of getting on the pitch in a WC year.

Once he was told that EFC refused to even talk to Spurs, (they had apparently tabled a lower bid, but news to me that), he decided to wait till he was fit instead, as per his Tweets.

Could be planted tripe for all I know, but its a logical series of events to me.

Maybe they wanted to keep a relationship with Barkley in a bid to try and start the deal again in January so they're letting him keep a bit of control over the situation. Perhaps the agent asked them to keep it quiet or anyone of a number of conspiracy theories .

In reality mate we're all guessing so who knows.

LOL at that. He's a more experienced Premier League player than the likes of Courtois, Kante, Moses, Alonso.

Must be told via agent they are going in back for him. And that sum must be ridiciously low.

Sounds reasonable and he is taking this next move seriously for his career and not bank balance.

All of us are trying to make sense of something without having possession of all the facts.

Chelsea just don't talk about transfers in the way other clubs do. For instance we have heard nothing from them regarding the likes of Llorente to Spurs or Ox to another team. What benefit would there be For Chelsea to out RB if they were considering going for him in Jan or at seasons end? To them it makes no difference for the fact remains he hasn't signed for them but crucially at this point in time no one else.

As for the time out. The injury was mid August. If he were out for 3 months that would mean he would be fit in mid November itsnow being said the earliest return would be Christmas which is a further month on

See if he were say 21 or 22 that may be valid but he will soon be 24 not really a youngster in footballing terms anymore.

Funny thing is I don't see him as a Chelsea or indeed a Spurs player both demand a far greater work rate than I think he has every achieved to date and whilst his attacking instincts are up there he switches of when it comes to defending.

..it really is too romantic to believe these lads are Evertonians first. They are professional footballers first and foremost, they turn up for work every day like other people and have the same work issues as other people. It is much easier to take being an Evertonian out of the equation in the evaluation of this situation.

But even if you take the Evertonian part out of it...surely he realises that he's not really endearing himself to the people in the cty he is from.
Even if he's not bright enough to realise this then surely his family are?

What I'm not saying is that he should always remain at Everton because he's a scouser and a blue....players come and go all the time, even local players...however, the way he's played this out stinks of a desire to actually weaken the team he supposedly supports and make fools of the fans who have backed him for years..leaves a bad taste and could have easily been done to benefit both parties
