...the other consideration for Barkley is the curse of the hamstrings. Those things finished me off and they still pop to this day. I said similar at the outset of McCarthy’s problems, suggesting it might be wise to cash in. Players tend to protect their movement, even subconsciously.

I have doubts we will see much of Barkley again in an Everton shirt. Even when fit, he will be susceptible to a set back and I don’t think he’ll be pushing himself with a move to Spurs beckoning.
He already protects his movement after his leg break - v rare to see Ross commit to a 50/50 [I don't mean that critically, as he's not on the park to go round smashing into tackles, but it is noticeable]. But the injury is a bad situation whichever way you look at it. If it's legit it means he's missed 4 months plus with a hamstring problem - sounds severe for a muscular injury. On the other hand, if he's just sat on his ringpiece because he CBA with Koeman then that shows where his head is at. Or isn't, as far as we're concerned.
