Pretty much this.

I would love him to stay but I have given up hope so let him go.
I was hoping if we brought in the right manager he might have been persuaded to stay. Not going to happen now obviously.

Even if he didn't sign a new contract, I was of the mind to keep him here until the end of the season as we have nobody better in his position and have clearly missed his influence, despite what his detractors say. However we might as well now just sell in January and take what we can for him.

Yeah, so how does moving club solve his personal problems?

That makes no sense.

Change of scenery, new start... same reason lots of people quit jobs to find new ones if things aren’t going how they want in their current one.

It makes perfect sense hence why so many people do it if their career stagnates at their current employer.

Negotiations on that contract are in full swing. It's going to be ok....

Stop looking at it from a club perspective, doesn’t matter what the club is or isn’t doing if from a personal perspective things are not going well... which was clearly the case last season.

You play football to win. If your team is winning then so are you. You can't win personally if your team is losing.

And how are the club supposed to help him with his personal life?

Still a bit baffled where he will actually go, and get starts.
If he is off, he will be right at home at spuds, sitting on the bench winning F/A with fellow bottlers...Chelsea or Man C won't even consider him unless its to be just a squad player again getting splinters in his arse....talking of whom, would he do well there? Man U..? no way Jose. Don't want him to go but he made his mind up a long time ago it seems.

No one said anything about his personal life. That was moutsgoat presuming I was talking about his social life when in fact I was talking about his season at the club from an individual/personal perspective.

To say that so long as the teams winning you should be happy is idiotic. The guy got called out in the press by the manager, dropped for several games, lost his place in the England side, was pretty much in tears sat on the bench...

But yeh cheer up Ross, doesn’t matter about that stuff, Everton finished 7th. BOSS

Lol

I like Sam's response. Ross isn't going to get much of a deal anywhere else unless he gets back up to speed.

I can't imagine the likes of Spurs shelling out without seeing some form first.

Oh Koeman again.

Except it wasn't Koeman. Not signing any contract or making effort to get fit for a new manager is proof of it.

Its pretty simple, he had his worst season last year from an individual perspective, prior to that he had also been stagnating... usually when people stagnate at jobs they look for a new one.

Amazing that people can’t get their heads around such a simple concept.

Tim with all due respect your pretty the benchmark for irrational hot headed overly emotional posts when it comes to this forum.

He definitely didn't have his worst season to date last year. He was actually pretty decent at times I thought, especially from December on. Much fewer downright abysmal performances than under Martinez.
