If you remove all of the goals that Rom scored for us, we would still finish 7th. Without him we would have lost 9 points, and we finished 15 points ahead of 8th. He did so much for us, but his goals never quite mattered to how the season played out. We were always 7th.
 
Sigurdsson is better than Ross by quite a bit, so the only concern if we are comparing last year to this year is Rom. Giroud would be a decent replacement, but he's hardly an upgrade. Benteke the same.

The improvements with Pickford, Keane, Klassen, Rooney will help, but Sandro isn't Lukaku.

He did so much for us I agree. BEYOND just scoring goals.

This stat is daft. His goals changed games and their complexion dramatically for us.

He was our best goalscorer in decades, you're about to remember what it was like without a consistent goalscorer of his class.

He is 23 and only getting better too.

No knock on Rom, he was absolutely vital to getting us to the point we're at. It was more than goals though, that's what seems to get lost, as you're saying. His goals never really "mattered" it was everything else he did. That's what we'll miss the most. We'll still score and Koeman has said he wants another CF. But we always forget the extra Rom did.

Mate he just scored 25 league goals in one season for us and averaged around 20 a season for four consecutive years. The rewriting of history since it was obvious he was leaving has been most kopite like.

The problem is fam, Gs got fed, they dont know what its like to see yo Striker struggling to hit 10 goals for the season in May, Lukaku spoilt the street hustlers. Just wait till the hunger hits them.

Deffo, that stat being thrown around that we would have still finished 7th without his goals doesn't actually take into consideration any assists he may have had.
