Or the Sixth Round in local parlance. Or maybe not.

Anyway, from The Guardian:

After months of being hampered by injury and only being able to train sporadically, Leroy Sané says he is finally pain-free and has backed himself to make an impact for Germany when they face Spain in Friday’s mouthwatering quarter-final.

Of course he does. Imagine suffering from this issue all year and then, just in time for the biggest match of your year - possibly career, you miraculously declare full health and your intention to make an impact.

If I were Nagelsmann, I wouldn't believe a word of it. Secondly, even if I did, I wouldn't have him near the side. This is a man who flouts the Trades Descriptions Act with every performance. I remember him the last time they played Spain - at the World Cup - bursting through one-on-one in the final minutes to win the game, rounding the keeper, and falling flat on his face. He's a showpony that Die Nationalmannschaft really cannot afford if they don't want to take a shafting themselves.

So, over to you Julian. We'll get a very good idea if Germany have any chance on Friday as soon as we see the teams...

I must admit, I'm getting a kick out of the animated ITV title sequence. That carriage is a real kiss of death. Sitting in it at the start was John McGinn, but when Scotland fell, they replaced him - rather abruptly - with Kevin DeBruyne, which I always felt a bit risky. So, who is next for the kiss of death? One of the Germans? Granit Xhaka? The sainted Virgil?

Nice touch to give the animated Mbappe a mask, too.

I still don't get how the two halves of the draw are so vastly different. How can you have the 4 best teams in the same half? England are going to get to the final by beating Slovakia, Switzerland and, most likely, Netherlands. Absolutely ridiculous.

England will find out who they play in Berlin on 14th July when Spain meet Germany this Friday. Hard one to call; Spain have been the best side in the tournament so far, but Germany have a strong team and home advantage.

Don't be surprised when France play the winner of this tie off the park in the semi final. They consistently seem to do just enough to get through then turn it on at the right time

France didn't win their group, Netherlands came 3rd in theirs, so it skewed it. We were "supposed to" have to beat at least Italy, France and Spain to win it.

I think this would be my team for saturday

Pickford
Walker Stones Konsa
TAA Wharton Mainoo Saka
Bellingham Foden
Kane

Exactly, they never played pretty but they are veterans of tournament football of last 10 years or so and know how to play this, under Deschamps they were/are always pragmatic.
