Running 2022

Spot on.

The first couple of miles are the worst. If you start off at any type of pace, you feel like you`re going (a) collapse (b) throw up (c) pass out.

I`m fully at peace now, with having to start at the back of races now and slowly trying to work my way through the field.
I see it as a test of resolve. Dunno what part of me is able to keep going after the start but I still push through.

I start at a pace now, where I could comfortably talk if I wanted to and keep it like that, until my lungs settle down and then I slowly pick up the pace - normally takes about 20 - 30 mins.

Those anti histamines I`ve been taking for the past month or so, have deffo helped though, as I`m much more comfortable running at steady pace, once warmed up and for longer than I was before.

5k in 31 degree heat. Brutal.

My gf's uncle lives just outside Lisbon and is a proper runner, who does all the right training with a club etc

I was out with him and we were chatting about it and it turns out we did 10k in the same pace which I was well surprised with but I didn't think much of it and took it as a compliment

He came over to visit us and it was about 25 degs and we tried to run at the that pace and I was absolutely floored lol and he hardly broke a sweat. I forgot that he was running that pace at 30+ degrees for six months a year lol

So embarrassing

I try to do short 3k runs everyday at this time of year instead of 7/8 k runs once every 2/3 days. Would rather run in pissing rain in 3 degrees though.

Third race of the year - Salomon Coed Y Brenin Trail Half Marathon.

One of the best races I’ve been to.
Sponsored by the outdoor clothing / footwear company, Salomon, so it was a big race, with some serious runners in all of the distances - Full / half marathon / 10K.

Cracking, proper trail
running course, that had a bit of everything it and balanced out the steep climbs, with a lot of downhill too.

Finished in the middle of the pack and felt much better than I have for quite a while, with my manky covid chest.

It’d be a good time first trail race too, as there were no nutty hill climbs !

you should get him over on a rainy windy day where it's 2 degrees celsius in December. revenge
