Running

Can anyone recommend some budget-ish road shoes? It will only probably be for 10k a week, plus the odd race so don't want to spend loads

I currently use Hoka Torrent 2 and do the majority of my running off road, in one form or another, but I'd rather get some separate road shoes to make them last

No running shoes are cheap. Don't cheap out on running shoes. That said, if you can find last year's model you can often get a good price. I like Mizuno myself, they fit me well. Buy something that feels good when you try them on.

Yea I don't mean cheap cheap but I don't want to spend as much as I do on my trail shoes as I won't use them as much. I tend to always look at old models

if you know what you want are there any UK online shops that may be able to sell old models at a discount? it's hard to find good prices these days it seems, but you can still get good prices in a few shops in the US. that is if you know what shoe you want.

Oh yeah there are loads, Im just being lazy about it tbh. Too much choice stresses me out lol

Just booked the Great Eastern run, 15 Oct. Half marathon road. I run at least one 12-15k trail run a week, plus some shorter and a road run. So around 30-40 a week.

Training wise, I'm think about doing a half marathon a week with a short trail run and a road run either side for the next one few weeks. Does that sound sensible?

I'm a good runner but when it comes to technical stuff I have no idea lol

My watch says I should do it in 1hr 40 (as long as I look up), but I don't run long distance road often so it may be a bit slower than true

Do at least 3 runs a week whilst training. Make one a long run of 10 to 12 miles. Do less miles for the last 2 weeks of training just to keep your body ticking over but not getting an injury.
1h 40 for a half marathon means you are very fit I would say because thats not a bad time at all.
Park run is pretty good for getting you used to running with a crowd.

You’ll find it a lot easier than a half marathon trail run.

So, I’d say if you can do a trail half marathon in two hours or slightly less, 1hr 40 ( ish ) is achievable.

Not a single hill in the GER, maybe one easy incline that takes you over a main road. Other than that its a fast flat course, and pretty dull. Gets good support and a popular race in terms of entrants.

Hornets are everywhere at the moment. Our house backs onto a wooded area and they are a nightmare

It was like something from a horror film.

All you could hear was the sound of screaming and then as we rounded the corner of the trail, there was three girls writhing on the floor, covered in these orange insects.

There was a nest in hollow tree next to the trail and it looks like people running past have aggravated them.

I was reading recently, because of the amount we have seen, how they are actually really dosile but when they sting they can multiple times at once. Which is my they are more dangerous
