Does anyone regularly take part in ParkRun? Or has anyone ever done one before? Took part in my first ever one on Saturday and was pleasantly surprised at how amazing the whole thing was!

A mate of mine does one every weekend, he loves them and goes all over the place doing them.
It’s the social side of it, as much as the running with him.
Think he‘g getting close to having done 100 of them now !
About 6 years ago I helped startup my local parkrun, and became a Run Director. I haven’t done as much the past few years but I’m a Timekeeper this Saturday. 5km is too short for me I prefer 10km/ half marathon so I have roughly volunteered 70 times and run about 25! I do like the social side of it and going back to those early days I got to know so many people who are now running friends. Stick at it if you enjoyed it , and eventually Volunteer , you’ll enjoy that too!Does anyone regularly take part in ParkRun? Or has anyone ever done one before? Definitely. I just loved having people there that were comfortably faster than me that I could use to pace me for the first half or so of the run. Having people around you makes a huge positive difference.A mate of mine does one every weekend, he loves them and goes all over the place doing them.

I agree tbf. 5K is a touch too short for me as well, but for the next 4 weeks I want to finally achieve a sub-20 minute 5K, once I've ticked that off I'm going to start concentrating on the 10K. Good thing about our local (Runcorn - very wool, I know) ParkRun is that it's about 2 miles away from home. So there and back along with the 5K race comes in at around 6-8 miles.I know loads of people I know do it, but I've never done one. They're a great idea but the runs are just a little too short for me so I never bother (although I could actually run to one and do it, but I still haven't
Was really surprised at the volunteers on Saturday, just couldn't believe how genuinely amazing they all were.About 6 years ago I helped startup my local parkrun, and became a Run Director. Another good thing with parkrun is the 5 year age groups and the “ Age graded %” . As you get older and things like sub 20 mins are long gone you can use the Age Grade to go for a % eg I reckon over 70% is a decent age grade target .I agree tbf. 5K is a touch too short for me as well, but for the next 4 weeks I want to finally achieve a sub-20 minute 5K, once I've ticked that off I'm going to start concentrating on the 10K. Thanks for the confidence boost... not! Haha. PB is currently 20:45 but I'm convinced I can get below 20 before the new season.Good luck with sub-20. I have done it a few times and I feel more dead from doing that then a 20k lol
Not really looked into that too much. Will have a nose.Another good thing with parkrun is the 5 year age groups and the “ Age graded %” . As you get older and things like sub 20 mins are long gone you can use the Age Grade to go for a % eg I reckon over 70% is a decent age grade target .

Got a 10k race with a few mates on Sunday. I had a look at last years times and, based on that, I could get in the top 10 based on my race time at a village nearby
Wish I never looked at the times as now my mates are excited I might get top 10, one is in a running club and has told most of them that I might do well and maybe even the best 'unattached'
And now I'm kind of dreading it, and it's 25 degrees lol I'm not very competitive at all
You don't get this pressure with trail races
