We don't let nutters have nuclear weapons? What are we doing?

That's the fear, if a right wing party suddenly came close to winning a national election in a france/Britain the media would do all it could to influence voters the other way regardless of the peoples wishes in a democractic process. That's western democracy for you now fear of the unknown.

the elite love people like brand as although the points he raises are valid the public perception of him is not credible enough.

Not really though is it? The right have developed a victim mentality and cite media bias all the time, but the truth is those on the periphery aren't electable, the same is true of the far left as it is the far right. UKIP are gaining ground not losing it as a genuine fourth party. They just happen to have quite a few fruit loops who generate headlines with the mad stuff they say.

Of course it is, you believe a hardline socialist or even communist party would ever get a fair shot at power in this country with the links to big business? Left or right wing mate it doesn't matter what we have now is what you can choose, anything else is a slight possibility providing the masses can get past the media onslaught at the wishes of the big 3.

Even the first past the post system is still used to help the established parties ffs

Your possible choices are limited and narrow, yeah, but I'm not sure that's such a bad thing. And it's becoming a big four nowadays wouldn't you say?

Brand thinks voter apathy is a result of general disillusionment with the system, that the narrow field of options available makes people doubt the idea of genuine change. I think the opposite is true. The anger and discontent among citizens of western democracies is superficial. Apathy isn't the natural response of angry and disillusioned people, it's the response of people who are comfortable and unchallenged in their lives. Though there's a massive wealth gap, the average middle class individual is wealthier than at any other time in history, and free to pursue their interests and objectives with a liberty that would have been unheard off as little as 50 years ago. People don't care because beneath all their posturing and armchair protesting, they have been piped down by flawed, lumbering democracy.

It's just the mechanics of it mate, people are smart enough to Vote against a genuine nazi party likewise they would a stalinist party, but you feel the elite at the top have a blanket regardless through tools such as the media and propaganda and you then question are you even voting for 1 of 3 parties or just the same in different masks effectively?

I'm not a particular fan of UKIP but I like what they are doing and more so I like how the people feel they no longer have to just vote red or blue. The general election is the big one though

So, just to get this straight...

An ex-smack head, multimillionaire comedian wants to start an anarchist revolution?

Rebelling against the "fat cats" and all that?

Sound. Can see this going well
