Sack Race 20/21

But given the RS are going through a particularly poor spell of form they aren't the benchmark are they?

Performances tell a story and if the powers that be at Chelsea are seeing woeful performances or quite possibly hearing less than stellar reports from the training ground then there's going to be grounds for concern given the amount of money thrown at the team during the summer. Abramovich is seeing huge financial investments withering on the vine and needs to do something to rescue that.

I'd hesitate using points or position as the sole barometer of worth for two reasons.

1 - Their target surely isn't being 5 points from the top 4. It's being comfortably within the top 4 and in the mix for top 1. There's no way they've spent that much money on anything else.

2 - Remember when Allardyce took a "relegation threatened team" and then "took them to eighth". To outsiders it was a ridiculous and petulant sacking done at the whim of a deluded fanbase. To anyone who sat and watched the dross served up it was clearly the correct decision and the margins in the league has little to do with it.

I totally understand why he's getting the boot. Totally get the position theyre in.

What I'm saying is the fans seem to be on the same level as Roman...just cold. Pat him on the back, cheers for blooding some youngsters, t'ra and let the big boys work now. I just personally find it ugly.

It's not like he's left them in a disastrous position in a league where a couple of wins bounces you up the league. Or the fact that is it possible the players brought in aren't good enough? It's like the RS wanting Klopp out now. Pathetic.

Now watch Tuchel come in...win 4 on the spin and get called a miracle worker. Only to be sacked this time next year.

Ugly but there trophy cabinet is pretty

Hard to argue against his sacking based on form and, well, managerial talent which he blatantly had very little of, but I never see the point in spending £200m+ on a team then sacking the manager a few months later. No chance to build consistency.
Every serious managerial prospect must look at the Chelsea job and think, "I'll be lucky to get two years." Then, subconsciously, will eyes be on a pay check?

There is no long-term plan at Chelsea or at least no real methodology in terms of how they'll achieve it.

Part of me kind of feels sorry for Lampard. Think he's still a bit wet behind the ears in terms of managerial experience but I did think the signs where there that he had a plan at least. He's a got a relatively young and inexperienced squad there in terms of Premier League appearances but loads of talent - still needs time to all come together.

After spending getting a free pass last season and spending 250 mil on players, he was always going to be expected to produce the goods this season.

Despite having all that talent available, it’s been really hard to see what his tactics where and the team just looked unbalanced, with no identity.

Too much too soon for Frankie I’m afraid.

He won’t be out of a job for long.

Chelsea have been able to navigate a continuous cycle of change better than most clubs might have done but it only takes 2 poor appointments in succession for that to change.

I'm not sure about Tuchel. In the scheme of things, they might have actually been better served by playing a longer game for once and waiting for the summer to get someone in.

You have to get very lucky changing managers mid-season. There is a sometimes a big difference between appointing "the best available" vs. "the best", particularly for the standards Chelsea have.

That's the one thing I thought would go well for them with Lampard. I thought he was such a club legend there was no way Roman would sack him for being, what, 8th? in a league so crazy 4 wins probably puts you top 2.

Don't like it but at least they didn't improve the manager overall, seriously don't rate Tuchel.
