Problem is it wasn't him not taking the fans with him, we had this delusion we were too good for him, which was nonsense, we had fans against him from the start, it was pathetic.
If you can't support the Everton manager you can't support Everton.

Yes and no, did most people want him, no of course not but I would say we got over that hill quite quickly with the results. For some reason I think he chose to have a fight with the fans, knocking us down, saying he's managed big clubs with Wham and Newcastle often thrown in which was tantamount to saying what's the big deal with Everton. He can do that while he's winning but we went limp and he still went I'm daddy big bollox around here. Taking credit for the West Ham game when by all accounts he had nothing to do with it, bringing in Sammy Lee when he knew it would lead to clashes - although not as many as I thought.

In simple terms he did the exact opposite to Lampard, whether or not Frank 100% believes it or not is by the by, but he probably wouldn't have had that feeling from day one yet the message was on point. He wanted to work with the fans and knew exactly what wouldn't go down well and made that connection. History shows if you don't you don't last long at Everton.

All that said I remember making an argument at the time that Blackburn's circle of decent started by giving him the boot as soon as they got some money and we needed to be more open as fans and that is still true today. If someone is that stubborn though it won't work, you have to at least meet halfway - okay you're not going over the top fair enough but then you must not say anything that can be directed as a sly dig. I also think he knew he was going fairly early on so didn't really care anyhow.

One of the problems was he definitely knew he was going to get sacked at the end of the season, I don't know if he knew that when he got the job but Moshiri took him on for 18 months but only intended to let him have 6. Once he accepted that the whole thing became a farce, his red socks being a good example.
To sack him though to be replaced by Marco, who had a terrible CV was insanity, the type of move that got the downward spiral going towards back to back relegation fights.
We had to let him see out that contract, even if just for financial reasons.

There should be a change your vote option. I looked at the title and voted for Frank not noticing the actual question was who is the worst. My fault, can't fix stupid or in this case laziness.

Spending on dross...squad was dire last year, a bit better this year but attacking wise is the worst by far. At least under allardyce the squad wasn't as terrible especially in the forward line and more so comparing with the rest of the league.
Forward line? We bought tosun to improve it.
Fact is both frank has chance to build sam
Allardyce was a horrible effort of a man and manager

Misread the poll, I thought it was asking who was the better manager and voted for Scam by mistake, there is no change your vote option, so, I just wanted to put it on record that after Benitez, Allardyce is my least favourite ex Everton manager, his appointment started my disenchantment with Moshiri and the hiring of Benitez finished me for good with him.

The fact that Sam Allardyce is now looked upon even vaguely fondly is a sign of how badly our expectations have fallen off over the years.

The potential of musltiple relegation scraps does that to a person…BRING BACK SAM.
I
I'm taking Lampard.

Allardyce walked into a job where the squad had goals in it, was in better condition despite the poor summer buys, and had funds to spend in the winter. 54 points was good enough for 8th, and we were coming off 61.

Lampard walked into a squad in dire need of deep surgery, kept us up, fixed the problems we could afford to fix and has us above the zone in a league where even the bottom three are competitive.

Finishing above 60 the prior season was a testament to just how good Carlo is as a manager. Benitez, plus a long-term Dominic Calvert-Lewin injury, revealed the squad's true level.

So what if it's ugly? Up is up. We can talk about playing attractive football once we have the funds under league rules to sort the attack out. Right now, it's just grind out points and wheeze over the cut line.

Might Allardyce be better for that purpose now? Maybe. Would he be better for us in the long term? No way.
I must admit even with Frank im not sure what the long term plan is....

Walcott and Tosun cost £47 million in transfer fees and sold for £0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Both players on over £100k a week to . You're spot on it deffo contributed to our current FFP situation.

There’s such exaggeration with these transfers and there has been from the get go. There’s no way Tosun cost 27 million pound, that was a complete blag figure made up from day one. There’s also absolutely no way that he was on anything approaching 100k a week.

Walcott, I’m unsure about. But he was palmed off to Southampton before his contract ended, and who would you rather have Walcott or McNeil? Tosun or Maupay? Very similar levels of wank imo. Who is going to take Maupay off our hands before his contract ends?

Walcott > McNeil

Tosun = Maupay

But he did

But he did

He never. I find Toffeeweb’s quote of 21 million to be far more believable.

This happens all the time with Everton. The media exaggerate everything, often to create a negative slant on things. ‘Everton have spent 600 billion and still can’t make the top half’. It’s all BS, as was that 60 million Anthony Gordon claim. Complete nonsense, didn’t happen!

Why? Because you want to believe it?

Why? Because you want to believe it?

No, because I hold Toffeeweb in much higher esteem than the Daily Mirror lol

Plus, it’s just an unbelievable figure. It was Tosun from Turkey ffs. It doesn’t take 27 million to get hold of Tosun from Turkey.
