I wont turn up my nose at a 7th-9th spot. I just dont think he's a manager capable of getting us to that next level. His whole career...and it's a long one in the PL...screams that to be the probable outcome.

He is what he is: a manager who'll make his teams hold onto points and maintain a final position above the relegation zone. A bottom half manager if ever there was one.

The Premier League is divided into two groups. Under Allardyce, Everton will certainly not be able to join the existing six elite clubs. But then, what manager could achieve that?

Other managers can only aspire to be the best of the rest. I wouldn't necessarily call them bottom half managers.

Hes the most forward thinking manager in the league, his prep work leaves nothing to chance, im going to enjoy this battle Dave, this 1 I win, like the last 3!!!!!
There is no battle. I'm relatively happy to see him here. I hope he does well and proves me wrong and takes us way into the top half and we play some decent football along the way.

I just think there's been a discernible mood change regarding his talents over the course of a week. I have no idea what it's based on. Desperation for the most part I think.

He's just Big Sam. That's all.

As said, the first set of poor results and the people now bigging him up as a changed character and one capable of doing great things wont be seen on here.

best to keep a level head on him: he'll do until the summer.

To be honest I think people just want to see us keep a clean sheet after this seasons start.

Thats how easy I/we are.

I’ll be honest, I didn’t want allardyce here. But the feel good factor around the club has certainly been evident with us winning our last 2 matches (both we were expected to win). Also he has spoken so positively about the club and how delighted he is to be here, which I think has galvanised the support after the dour demeanour of Koeman, who let’s face it didn’t build any type of rapport with the supporters. Bigger tests await starting with Sunday.

Moyes, Martinez...

Wibble.

They did it when there was 3/4 good consistent teams. Both wouldn't have got close this season or last.

Moyes finished ahead of Liverpool teams containing Gerrard Suarez (11/12 and 12/13) and Sturridge and Coutinho (12/13) twice in a row under two different managers. He also finished ahead of Benitez’s side in 05. These weren’t poor teams.

In Sam we Trust.

Watch how we all turn as Lovren slots the 7th on Sunday.

That's not how their supporters would see it. (bar the 05 side obviously) I think doses of Roy Hodgson/early Rodgers had something to do with it along with the distraction of the CL for the 05 lot.

The fact of the matter is that the top 6 from last season are all stable and have better squads than anything we have ever had in the PL. Saying Moyes would break into top 6 nowadays is just unrealistic.

He's once hit the dizzying heights of 8th in this league, the rest of the time he's fallen way short of that.

Honestly, I think some here need to get themselves a massive reality check on this manager and his capabilities.

I'm happy enough for now he's here. I have no axe to grind. But the claims being made on his behalf are pretty outrageous.

The first few defeats we have under him will cure people of this nonsense.

It's silly to judge a managers capabilities in terms of league finishes when he's only ever been at poor teams with inferior players.

It's like getting 2 people to race cars, one has a Ferrari and the other has a Reliant Robin then saying the guy in the Reliant Robin is a crap driver as he always loses while the guy in the Ferrari is amazing because he always wins.

Judging a manager on league positions without factoring in how much money they've had and what clubs they've been at is pointless.
