I am hoping we are only keeping him there til the end of the season while we work on securing our long term managerial target. But knowing our board......

No they don’t. They might say they do but actions speak louder. The board has done nothing in the past 20 years to support this view. They’ve regularly sold our best players, they’ve failed to back every manager prior to Koeman properl, they’ve cultivated a culture of mediocrity and reinforced it with absurd managerial appointments, they’ve failed to make any headway commercially despite clubs like West Ham and Newcastle managing better performances even after being relegated in the same period. The only two positive acts the board have done in 20 years have been hiring Moyes and bringing in Moshiri. If they had really wanted to be successful they would have been far more proactive in wanting to improve.

We paid millions to sack RM because fan discontent was so high. His underperformance was leading to negative attention on the board that Moyes has shielded them from. There was also the nagging fear that we’d been close to relegation scraps despite having one of the league’s top scorers in the team. The players had turned against him and his recruitment was poor. If he’d have kept the fans on side and the players we know full well Kenwright wanted to keep him. Back to back bottom half finishes didn’t even register in the boards thinking. Koeman got fired because he would have relegated us.

They have shown time and time again that the ONLY two drivers that influence this board to do anything are the fear of relegation, and high profile fan discontent. If either are not there they do not pursue any course of action to do anything more than aim for premier league safety in the top half.

Hopefully Moshiri changes this bit it seems we are caught currently in a bind of the day to day operation of the club is as inert and reactive as ever and we slump our way into a crisis at which point Moshiri swoops in with erratic decision making to rescue it.

He needs a long term plan to install someone who can make good decisions to incrementally improve us so that Moshiri can focus on the bigger picture around the stadium, commercials, squad investment.

That man is not the imbecile Robert Elstone or any of Kenwright Walsh or Allardyce.
Absolutely spot on ...the culture of mediocrity that is EFC....and imo the board do not give a damn about the fans....the poison is from the top down and until there is a big shake up at that level and a change of this appalling "plucky old Everton" attitude we are going nowhere! Wonder how many fans will consider not going to the last 2 home games now we are safe? No use waiting for the end of the season to appoint a new manager....do it as soon as possible! '

Koeman’s stock was high when he hired him and he did well in season 1, and he looked a decent appointment. After that for me he wasn’t committed enough and it took its toll, together with a completely lobsided squad, that looked like a battle ground between Walsh and Koeman.

Allardyce was brought in as a fire fighter, pure and simple. As we looked like a ship heading for the rocks. He’s done an adequate yet unispiring job and he’s acheived his brief.

However, Allardyce isn’t the long term future for this club and another season under him therefore makes zero sense. I’m certain that Moshiri will be cautious before making his next long term appointment, but keeping Allardyce would merely be kicking that decision up the road, and Moshiri doesn’t strike me as a bottler. He may well have already made his decision.......
Agree with everything in your email except for this line. In my opinion he can only dream of reaching the dizzy heights of "adequate"

His brief was to ensure we stayed up and avoided a relegation battle, so I don’t see how anyone can argue that he’s not done an adequate job, as we’re nowhere near that. Could he have done better? Yes, he’s had me tearing my hair out at times, but in terms of the reason he was hired he’s delivered.

Most boring team in the Premiership and the most worrying thing is 80% of the players need moving on (and that is not going to happen) so next season is ??? I am full of admiration for the season ticket holders.

Its just a theory ...just trying to get into Moshs head. I suspect that after his initial misplaced enthusiasm for Koeman etc he has become determined to make 'careful' appointments, and he will think that SAm has been a success within his brief. Do not be surprised to see Sam here at the start of next season, and if results go well he could even see out his contract.SAm could actually go at any time from now until the end of next season...it depends on Mosh.
So what you are saying is that he might go or might stay.......thanks for that.

I’d like him gone, but makes sense to wait until the season has ended. Announce it the day after the season ends, thank him for his efforts. Announce Walsh has left at the same time.
Bit undignified doing it before then.

Fans play a part in it too. On the one hand we spout nsno, only the best, etc. Then we make excuses when the local lads don't perform, or we want every ex player who's ever pulled on the blue shirt to be given some lifetime role at the club.
