Fair to say though that 'idealistic' managers have gone there and come away with a dour point.

He did well today, and I think he's got right under their skin straight away a la Big Joe in the 90s. But we'll have to tweak that strategy for the cup game.

Hopefully a striker is ready to just sign, get a medical and come in and hit the ground running by January 6th or whenever the cup game is.

For me, that was a similar performance to the two matches against Man City away over the last 2 seasons. I was critical of the negative tactics in both of those games (not as much as you though Dave), so to be consistent, let's just say I found it very difficult watching that this afternoon.

Since Kenny and Holgate have been playing in the proper positions I have seen an improvement in our defending, but I still didnlt expect a result against that lot the way they've been playing. So credit to Allardyce. Firstly for sticking with our youngsters who have been doing so well (which I didn't expect from him) and secondly for getting us more organised when not in possession. Something Koeman had lost completely and Unsy was finding difficult to sort out.
