Exactly. Mourinho is hardly known for his 'good football' but is widely considered one of the best and many wanted him here.
True that, I think Jose has peaked, they should of got him soon as Sir Alex left, lot of United fans I've spoke to don't like what they are seeing and I've even heard said it was better under LVG.
We might not be easy on the eye at times with Sam but over the years we haven't exactly been the school of science for a sustained period

Sam is a very experienced manager maybe as a stop gap - TBH watching that last night Sam has fetched us stability, and luck - woodwork, pens, etc - The brand of football for now is like taking Mogadon - he will be given funds for January - we do have such an unbalanced squad and he is making do - my question is long term will he take us on to play great football - as I have never seen a team he managed do that!
HE HAD BOLTOM PLAYING LOVELY FOOTBALL THAT GOT HIM TO EUROPE AND I DO MEAN LOVELY FOOTBALL....SINCE THEN MOST JOBS HAVE BEEN EITHER RELEGATION FODDER OR THE SEVERELY DELUDED WHAMMERS

He had Bolton playing statistic Football, not lovely at all. His tactics were build around setpiece, which I must say is quite effective. He build his team base on imposing physicality on his opponent. Tall big physical Athletes that bullies team like free flowing Arsenal. Nothing pretty about that, just decently effective. That’s how his reputation evolves. Don’t expect us to pass around too much or having fancy buildup play. It’s all about being efficient.

The amount of polar opinions on here is laughable; you're either a devoted member of the Big Sam love in or you're disgusted that he's here.

Genuinely isn't there an acceptable in-between? You can actually recognise the changes he has made without wanting him here in the long term.

Yes the football isn't overly pretty, however it is effective at least because we're no longer leaking goals, we're scoring and actually getting results.

In addition, if you listen to his press conference then he's openly admitting that he was disappointed with our attacking play last night.

Whether that's a genuine desire to want to improve or a tactic to appease the fans, at least he's recognising the position that we're in.

So some of you simply need to chill... the football isn't exactly what we want but at least it has improved to an extent and we are getting points!
That just seems to be football fans these days, overreactions and not thought out views.

It seems the same with peoples opinions of players, they’re either world class or s***e

Screw good football, I dont understand people demanding good football, I want winning football, I want what I saw the other night, pure undiluted will to win.

Picked at random to illustrate the stark change in attitude towards ‘Sam’ that pervades the forum recently.

Perhaps, as I read in a recent Guardian article which in part attempts to deconstruct the lyrics of George Michael’s perennial ‘Last Christmas’ to illustrate its underlying sophistication that marks its musical genius, it’s not just about the lies we tell ourselves to cope with rejection, but also the cognitive dissonance of obsessive love. It continues as to how defiance masks hope and how easily love and desire can delude us into forgiveness.

Rather apt for our recent change in mood, perhaps?

But, I wonder, if current style and content under our new ‘messiah’ doesn’t change anytime soon, how long will it be before the throngs pen there own ditty: ‘Boring, boring Ev....’ ?

Makes you think, though.

I was with you until you used "there" instead of "their", and now you're dead to me.

Read with interest the last few pages. Some want sexy football others not sure on BFS.
I remember Royles Dogs of War side. and so far this is what I've seen. Players fighting for the shirt and the terrace, doing the hard work. digging in and standing firm, showing a bit of pride . I am perfectly happy with that if come the weekend after the game I don't feel like I did against Southampton , Burnley , Arsenal .
Playing against Swansea might be interesting , to see how we go about that game but at least the players give a damn now.

I dunno, the likes of Jay Jay Okocha, Hideo Nakata, Rod Wallace, Youri Djorkaeff, Stelios, and Idan tal are hardly going to strike fear into the heart of the opponents with their physicality.

He could mix it up, as all good managers should be able to. He managed to bring some fairly big names to Bolton as well. He has always struck me as the type of manager who works within his means at the club he is managing. We have some fairly talented players and money to spend so I would expect him to be a bit more expansive.

Depends what you class as good football though I suppose. Give me the Dogs of War any day.

Totally agree, I watched Arsenal vs Utd a few weeks back and Utd got a couple of lucky goals on the break then spent 85 minutes defending like utter cowards (and I mean parking like 3 buses, not just 1), a little embarrassing for a club their size tbh, but 3 points is 3 points, end of story.

We should play good football against the easier teams at home, and maybe one day at home against the top 4, nobody else is playing free-flowing football every week, even City have had to grind out a few 1-0s recently.

All that said, I just hope he doesn't take us down !
