You can enjoy Everton's improved results at home. But when I go to the match, I want to enjoy that too.

Until now, I have given Everton matches - and all their varied kick-offs - priority over other events. But Everton must offer entertainment to make the trips worthwhile.

So I'll be very interested to learn Big Sam's plans for the future, and to see who he buys in January to fulfil them.

oh how I loved watching the utter tripe Martinez and koeman were serving us.. I'm soo gutted I'm travelling up to goodison and to the aways and not going to be able to see us get beat 4-1 by the likes of Southampton anymore.

the result at Newcastle was horrific. we won 1-0 .. I cant bear this anymore.

The whole 'wanting to be entertained' notion is a bit silly I think.

How many clubs have gone from their so called 'long ball' tactics to a more 'expansive' game and failed miserably in the process? We gradually got worse until we fell of a cliff under Martinez after the Moyes era (who despite contrary to popular belief got us playing some lovely stuff at times). I'd rather have a pragmatic manager with the ambition to gradually make us more expansive as opposed to trying to change it overnight because it's fashionable. All this 'philosophy' nonsense. Some managers try to overcomplicate the game but Sam isn't one of those.

Sure, Guardiola is a master at getting his sides playing beautiful football. But even he couldn't do it with the wealth of talent City had last year and had to spend hundreds of millions this season to get it right. It's only really possible if you have the resources for it.

Fans say "I'd rather finish 14th and have a go at playing the 'right way' than settle for 7th again!!!". No. No you wouldn't.

Look at how Stoke have gradually declined after trying to become a Home & Bargain version of Barcelona. Crystal Palace flirted with De Boer for a few weeks before crapping themselves and appointing Hodgson. There's more but I can't be bothered to rack my hungover brain.
Hahahaha that made me laugh

I'm sick of winning mate, it's sooooo last year......

Spot on post.

The best managers, when not backed with ridiculous wealth at least, have ambition (which late-era Moyes lacked) but also a degree of pragmatism (which Martinez lacked) as well as the ability to drop their ego and do what is needed to be done in the short term (which Koeman lacked).

I accept the need for extreme measures in our current situation. And Sam has brought better results, although he has been very lucky! The players have certainly contributed more, yet the improvement in team play has been modest so far.

I'm more concerned about the future once we are safe. The choice is not between playing tight defensive football and winning, or attacking football and losing. There are as many different styles of football as there are managers.

The fact is that Allardyce left Blackburn and West Ham because of the dull nature of his team's play. I really don't want that to happen here.

Maybe that happened due to the tools he had to work with.

What’s to say he won’t do better with a better all round squad of decent players?

I think we are all in both camps. The winning and not conceding for fun is brilliant...nothing better than 3 points or is there...IMO Yes 3 points and doing it in style. It's not a complaint just a wish.

If Alladyce can just add a little bit of flair with purchases in January and carry on the momentum then there is no reason he wouldn't be offered the job long term and justifiably. If the results are still coming in but in the same manner as now then I think we will get another manager in with the hope of more expansive play.

It was no secret that this man was my no.1 choice of all the realistic candidates available (I.e. everyone bar Tuchel and Simeone) I’m very happy with his performance so far and I am sure the board are as well.

Certainly we would have conceded lots under Silva and probably been smashed for 3 or 4 at Anfield as well.

What flair players do Everton actually have? I’m talking players light on their feet who are smart that can see a pass?

None, maybe Vlasic is the closest?

You play with the players you have a and we can’t play a style that doesn’t suit our players he’s already said that.

We need a little magician.
