Haven’t seen much good football since 13/14 so I’m not sure what bench mark people are judging Allardyce by? The current football, even in an injury crisis with players that Allardyce has only just started working with us already better than: all of 14/15, all of 15/16, the first half of 16/17, the first half of 17/18. So basically Koeman’s one purple patch last season (only at home) is the only football in the last 4 years that has been better than what Allardyce has produced in only 6 games in charge (5 wins 1 draw, only 2 conceded).

Some of you need to have a word with yourself. You hate Allardyce more than you love Everton. It’s like the reverse Martinez effect, people happy to see him relegate us because he had a reputation for passing football.

Absolute rubbish SD.
And you are one of the worst for comparing Martinez with anything and everything.

The football in his last 2 seasons was far worse than what Allardyce has produced. Utterly turgid negative passing, three holding midfielders at times, two left backs, three number 10s, it was woeful.

I remember going 1 up at Newcastle through Kone and knowing we’d still get beat we were playing that poorly. Newcastle were one of the worst sides in the division that year too.

Spot on this.

The really sad thing is I strongly suspect some people want him to fail to satisfy their own egos, so they can say “I was right”, as opposed to wanting the team they ‘support’ to succeed. I just don’t get it.

Bunch of pathetic cryarses in here tonight (apart from the obvious, idiot WUMs). Moaning cos we won. I swear some of you would have us relegated just so you could shout "told you so". Who gives a toss if the footy is a bit crap right now? We're scoring goals, hardly conceding and winning games. Better than "ol' moonhead" and "Unsy" managed with the same bunch. Should be ashamed of yourselves with some of these attitudes. Samuel ain't my first choice, but if he keeps doing what he's doing and we continue to improve then I'm right behind the fella.

This 100%

I'd rather see us win scruffy than lose 4-1 away at Southampton, 1-0 at home to Burnley, 5-1 at home to Atalanta or draw with a 3rd rate team from Cyprus ffs.

Keep up the promising start Sam.

No mate, now you're giving us your opinion on Martinez (who you are obsessed with).

What you originally said was:

"people happy to see him relegate us because he had a reputation for passing football"

Which, of course, is nonsense. Even the most staunch Martinez admirers like myself and @davek agreed that the football broke down and he deserved to go.

In any event, at least under Martinez we could create a meaningful attack- a trait missing during the 18 months of Koeman's tenure.

I quite like Allardyce but he needs to get us playing better football if we are to break into the top 6.
