In football the praise is as knee-jerk as the criticism.

Sure, a good start but some comments are over the top. He has beat Huddersfield (H), Newcastle (A) and Swansea (H) and got a point at Liverpool.
And you really think that was Unsworth team v West Ham? I’m not going to play someone then suddenly bringing him back into the team in a new position and make him captain.. not having it. Allardyce instructions to Unsworth before he was removed. No, I don’t care what they said post game, that was merely respect.

10 points clear off relegation, 6 points behind Spurs.

Can't argue with that. It's already looking like a relegation fight is something that won't happen.

I still can't see him being here next year but he's done one hell of a job at steadying the ship.

I doubt that even Koeman could get us relegated from where we are now.

4 league games - 10 points from a possible 12, 7 goals scored and 2 conceded.

Compare that with the 4 games before he took over (I'm going to exclude West Ham because I think his influence had already seeped in). 4 points from a possible 12, 6 goals scored, 10 goals conceded.

He's not the second coming of Pep Guardiola, but I don't know why you'd begrudge him the praise he's getting for turning around our defensive fortunes so quickly.

This is all getting a little Dave-esque in here. I can appreciate the level of 'underwhelmed' people are with his appointment, mainly because I felt the same. I truly hoped that Unsworth could've done the job a bit longer & we could do a proper recruitment but that wasn't to be.

Where I've come round is his straight forward approach, especially in the media. Where Koeman was aloof & indifferent to the fans and Unsworth was reacting the same way any true 'fan' of the club would if suddenly thrust into that position, Sam just exudes calm confidence in the Press.

The tipping point for me was how he understood the importance & history of the Derby. I think we've lacked that in the recent past. Now, I also think he might be a little excited by the turnaround & the fact that he may get one last shot at Managing a team that might be closer to EL or CL places than any other team he's managed this Century. I think he has something he wants to prove. Unfinished business if you will...

Few Bolton fans I speak to, all of a sudden have taken an interest in us.....nice for them, they are an odd bunch....its cute really.

To me he seems like he's planning for an eventual dip so it gives him a look at what's needed in Jan.

It's refreshing to hear him in interviews as he strikes me as someone who is just wading through [Poor language removed] that Koeman left. Making a point that we've got 30 players, injuries, and academy players. Unless they're not willing to play, fit a style, or aren't good enough, they're going to be gone.

This isn't Koeman "like it or leave" style either, I think he's giving everyone a chance and rightly keeping the players that are making it hard for him to drop.

The feller sees things how they are not what we want them to be imo.
His words on that sounded like a preparation for Everton to do minimal business in January. Striker in with the proceeds of outgoing players and then stay top ten.

That's what's on his mind from what I've heard.

He's here to staunch a wound that wasn't exactly gushing.

It's good to see that Jan Molby has maintained his playing weight after all these years. A fine example to us all.

IF the form can maintain itself largely through till January though mate, both his and the owners ideas may change, got the feeling Moshiri can let himself get caught up in 'hype' and change his mind easily at times.

Think BFS will want personally to do a fair bit of business in January, but he won't say a word about it to the media as he knows the game, and if he does it will undermine that 'team spirit' he's built and also push prices up etc.

Think min of 3 in and possibly up to 5-6 out personally

I've heard and read a lot of this type of stuff. It's a mistake, IMO. Allardyce is as cynical as they come. Please dont make the mistake of investing in him, he's not worth it. He's here for a big pay day. He'll make a mountain out of a mole hill in terms of what he's needed to do at this club. Fair do's to him, he hit on an indecisive mug like Moshiri and took him to the cleaners. Job done as far as he's concerned.

I have no axe to grind against SA, btw. I'm glad he's here and not Koeman, but he's not on some career-endiing noble mission where gets to roll out his frustrated genius with better quality players. Big Sam just isn't a smart coach. He's organised and he knows how to spoil a party. That's all.
