Sam has just been live on Sky.

- Barkley, McCarthy and Bolasie all played in a closed door game yesterday and came through unscathed.
- He said that he wanted to raise Schneiderlin’s performance levels to that of his Southampton years.
- Refused to comment on a possible England recall for Rooney.
- Confirmed that the door is always open for Ross Barkley to stay. Ball in Barkley’s court.

i liked all of that, but the best part was him saying we're too safe. It has been ball retention just for ball retention purposes the last few years and it's not worked. We do dally around with it too much for my liking, we don't play anywhere near enough one touch passes in the middle and i'm chuffed he recognises that and wants to rectify it.

We're still hopeless back there though. Look at the Swansea goal last week.

You seem to have an agenda, it was a bad goal to concede there's no disputing that.

11 goals scored and 2 conceded in the 5 games since West Ham compares very favourably to my mind with.

(0.4 goals per game)

7 goals scored and 20 conceded in the 7 games preceding West Ham.

(Counting the West Ham game too to make 8 games it means 2.5 goals per game)

Not sure that's true...the right side of defence (Kenny and Holgate) looks fine to me...the left side (Williams and Cuco) looks like something from league 1.

Gana has been superb recently and ive not given him the credit for it but watch him focus on protecting Williams and Sigurdsson covering Cuco...theyre Trojans those two.

Imperative we sign a left back and Keane steps into Williams' shoes.

What are your views on 'Big Sam'?

The most Zatara post I've ever seen

Full of insight, knowledge and dare I say, common sense.

Glad you approve.

How would you compare the abilities of Kenny/Holgate vs the axis of evil?

Williams and Cuco just as much to do with our recent defensive performances as Holgate and Kenny. Would have to have a favouritism towards certain types of players to say otherwise

Don't be silly...you can see the difference in performances quite clearly not to mention whose fault the 2 goals conceded in this run have been.

No, and in general people are right to feel that way. But imo the club from top to bottom experienced a massive lack of self-confidence in the first three months of this season and lost its collective self-confidence.

The way forward is to recognise that as a blip and to get back to playing the football we all wish to see. The alternative to doing that is to stick long term with SA: something akin to believing that danger exists all around if we venture out of our comfort zone, and so it's best to hide behind the couch for the rest of our lives.

Yes Dave, we need to have a period of stability, that is of paramount importance. I do not mean just in terms of the manager but also in terms of the team selection and tactics.

I think he's everything I thought he'd be: a big character who's in the confidence business. He's just taken all the pressure off.

I dont mind him at all. I'm just waiting though for some dodginess to happen. I notice the other day we were linked with Tompkins who's a player who shares the same agent as Allardyce - a caper Allardyce has been mixed up with before.
