It was more than a decent result - it was a good result. Admittedly, the football wasn't attractive and yes it was nerve-racking for long periods.

However, we adhered to a game plan which clearly frustrated a very able Chelsea team who became incredibly frustrated by our doggedness.

Sam has mentioned that he's frustrated with our attacking play, or at least he's sensible enough to proclaim this, so he knows the expectations.

With players returning from injury and hopefully new additions in the transfer window, we should see an improvement in our attacking play.

If we'd had played this game one or two months ago then we'd have been torn a new one, so to take a dogged point is a huge positive.

Oh yes i fully agree.I would like to see our attacking play improve against the stronger sides. But that will all come in time.We have come on in leaps and bounds, since that Southampton game. Before Big Sam came on board, we were leaking goals all over the shop.

Football is entertainment for me, not trophies. I hate watching ugly football and that's what we'll have under big Sam. If Leicester City can win a league with lovely counter-attacking football, we can win cups and be good to watch.

I'm pretty sure Leicester played in a very very similar fashion to how Sam's teams usually set up. To call it lovely counter attacking football is a bit disingenuous to be honest. They defended well and attacked quickly and directly.

People complaining about parking the bus against better sides.
If we continue beat worse sides and draw with better sides we are champion material.
Someone mentioned earlier Simeone uses exactly the same tactics.

If you were given the list of results before the West Ham we would have gone for any manger who could have achieved this.
Exactly this. Even saf and morinho do this. Just don't lose points against your direct competition and win more against the weaker sides than they do, and you're champions.

He had Bolton in fifth. It's not that laughable really.

No he didn't. There was a recognised Big Four in those days, and Bolton finished in 6th place.

Manchester City and Tottenham have now joined the financial elite.

We didn't get a shot on target yesterday! It's laughable to think that our resources and Allardyce's tactics could take us into the Top Four next season.

We are not just parking the bus though we are also taking the wheels off.
Perhaps we did yesterday, however I doubt if it's how Sam actually wants us to play or is it entirely intentional - it's the situation we are in.

Offensively we are currently lacking in pace and quality (that's not surprising), so if we had went toe-to-toe with Chelsea it'd have been awful.

Defensively we are resolute and as mentioned numerous times, with time and new additions then hopefully we should see an improvement.

Adequate. Has done no more nor no less then I would have expected of any manager at this point.
yes, that's four points dropped now. he's taking the pss, frankly

he resigned from Bolton when they were fifth, with only two games to go

He will never get us to fourth. He has managed to remain unbeaten through sheer luck. We have performed awfully in every match (and I include West Ham) with some deceptive results. You just have to look at the stats. We are beaten in possession in every game, even against the teams who haven’t won in 7/8 games. We are beaten in number of shots every game and in number of passes. I know it’s not all about stats, but they are an indicator of how we play and it is poor when we play teams like Newcastle and can’t control the match at all.

Yes, it’s great to get points on the board, but had it not been for the post/cross bar, we would have lost to Chelsea and Newcastle.

He is doing ok for now, as a stop gap, while we ensure our safety and solidify our position, but he can’t take us further then that.

And a very merry Christmas to you too.
