What we are watching is some of the worst football from a entertainment perspective I've seen, up there with the worst of them, but and it's a big but, the results make it just about acceptable.

To play devil's advocate, the squad he has got right now and with the way confidence and form levels where at, i don't think any other option short term would have worked besides what we are currently doing.

We have a young but very talented right back, a young talented cb in Holgate, Keane who when he took over was utterly shot on confidence - same as Williams, Jags and Williams who have got no legs anymore, and Martina who is a terribly bad right back now playing as a left back, which makes us so unbalanced it's killing our ability to do anything going forward.

Will things chance after January - don't know, but for now a lot of the issues with our play come as a direct consequence of what happened or didn't happen in the summer and onwards.

NOW, if he is backed in January with funds to bring in 3-4 good quality additions money wise, and come feb/march we are still seeing this style of play then hopefully he's signed his own p45

He'll deffo get the money for a striker, but what will be interesting is to what extent Allardyce is backed with funds for other signings.

Okay with the two draws we’ve dropped from 2nd in the form league, still, not bad id say, given he was working with the worst Everton team in its history.. so he’s just doing what anyone could have done, and he’s been dead lucky.
I’m amazed that you and others can’t see the Excellent job he’s done with the personnel available.does make you realise though the unrealistic expectations that exist in the fan base.

Worst team in our History, errrm no mate it is far from that, unless you think our history started about 10-15 years ago.

As you quoted form though, we beat Huddersfield and Newcastle who where 19th and 20th in form when we played them, beat Swansea who where 19th when we played them, and where very fortunate in those games with pens and them hitting the bar/post etc, held on for dear life at home against Chelsea without having a shot on target all game, and scraped a very fortunate draw against the rs (something we've managed 4 out the last 7 away games at the pit - so hardly earth shaking result wise) topped off by a backs to the wall all out defending game against West Brom - a team without a win in 18 and the worst form team in the league.

The day unrealistic expectations include expecting us to be able to beat west brom and Newcastle away and swansea and Huddersfield at home and expecting a little more than all out defending with no desire to try win a game at home and in a Derby is the day the fan base is well and truly f'cked forever

I agree with the sentiment here.

Point on the defence though: those players aren't really improved, they're just not as left open to be as exposed as they were. Basically Sam has come in and done what Koeman did after Martinez: got everyone back behind the ball and compressed the lines between defence and midfield and narrowed the pitch. With a bit of luck here and there it works. None of our defenders are left one on one. That's the "secret".

Anyone with a mind to can do it.

Here here.

Same amount of points roughly from 20 games, too.

But thanks Allardyce for solving the "crisis". Lol.

The crisis was always a permanent manager appointment away from being fixed, and the delay on that decision is what ultimately made it seem to some as an actual crisis rather than a managerial switch.

You've pointed out what I wanted to say here Davek.

Big Sam is basically doing nothing different to what Koeman did, the same poor football - the difference being, it's working.
