I'm hoping the issues in the recent past were due to disagreements between Walsh and Koeman about recruitment, and that Walsh can now go back to doing what he's been halfway decent at for years.

Obviously, being from Chorley, I'm totally biased though !

It must have been tough going working with Koeman because of the way he came over, cold, opinionated etc.

We was not hurtling towards the championship, season was 8 games in ffs!!

We have barely outplayed anyone....and the rs and chelsea games were shockingly bad performances.

We could not keep a clean sheet and could not score. That is relegation form by anyone's standards.

We have played rubbish against Chelsea and the RS for years, yet the difference (and its a pretty sizable one..) is that we actually picked up points this time.

Exactly mate.

It's amazing how many fans nod and agree and re-quote SA's words when he says he's concerned with possession. It's a pure cynicism that Allardyce is renowned for.

But it was happening before Allardyce got here too! That's what the naysayers seem to be missing. Going to need different players in key areas to change that.

Football is out the window Lou.

I fully expect a Benteke type forward (someone who is decent in the air) to arrive. The game plan, as always with Sam, will be to keep a solid 5 behind the ball at all times with the midfielders swarming to collect the knockdowns in the oppositions final third.

If they fail to win this they will immediately drop back into their positions and defend the space until we win the ball back and thus try it all over again

Supposedly though mate, he's got no choice but play the way we are (I can remember the free flowing expansive footy Allardyce played before he came to us) because of the players he has, and this being the worst team in our history.

At some stage he has to let the handbrake off. Either attack more in games we are not expected to win or go the opposite and attack against the bottom teams. I don't think we can support a manager that parks 10 behind the ball in every game.

Well he may do that once we have some players back/in.

We have no left back, our best player (in my opinion) has had a long term injury (his deputy has done well so far) a rag tag bunch of strikers who have strengths but also some major flaws, certainly not good all round players and our "talisman" has missed the last two games.

It is way to early to judge anything.

Have you noticed in matches when the ball is passed invariably the Everton player waits for it instead of going to meet the ball and loses it. Unless it is a hoofball to run after.

Allardyce came to the club with one primary aim, to steer us clear of relegation. Once he has achieved that, in order for him to see out his contract, both the owners and himself will know that he will have to start being more adventurous, playing more attacking football and going for wins against inferior sides.

However, if you listen to what he says on this video from 1 minute onward, he's now doing exactly what he described there and it's quite clearly working as we have now kept 5 clean sheets in 7 since he's been in charge, haven't lost under him yet, and have conceded the least amount of goals in the whole league.

To sum up what he says above: "It's pretty simple really, the only way Everton will get a win is by providing a clean sheet. And that is the only way forward at this moment in time, until January, when they can go out and try and find a goalscorer."

So to me it's quite clear that his number 1 aim, every game is to try and get a clean sheet/concede as few as possible and hope that the quality in the team can provide enough in attack to snatch games. and that is exactly what has happened.

He's been excellent since he's come in and is exactly what we needed at this moment in time. Quite clearly though, once we get clear of any relegation fears he is going to have to adapt his style and try and push us on. If he can't do that, he'll be thanked by the club for proving he was the right man in the short term, but not the man to take us on long term. Think everyone involved will take that.
