Maybe. He might have had his wings clipped by his experience here. But I believe he's genuine about wanting to finish top 6 and in the summer we'll see if he still holds that ambition. He obviously didn't fancy Allardyce and only went back there when the primary target was blocked.

Allardyce wont get us top 6. You have to be much more expansive to get into that company and that isn't what Allardyce knows how to do.

..but Shakespeare does. The other thing to note in that interview was that he’d never had a chance to compete in the cups because he kept players back for league games. That situation is different now and he’d really like a run in the Cup. Transfer dealings (particularly in the summer) will give us an indication of the direction of travel.

If he adds in 2 LBs and 2 CBs to Kenny, Coleman, Keane and Holgate we will push for top 4 next season.

Allardyce can get a tune out of a defence and by having 4 more players added and the rest shifted we will be able to have a settled and solid back 4 with Pickford (and a decent backup if robles leaves) marshalling them.

I have no doubt if we made those 5 signings he'd get us playing a lot better next season with the addition of one or two more attacking players as well.

I think if we say we need 4 defenders + 2 forwards to come in over the next 2 windows then its imperative we sign 2 of them this Jan with a massive focus on moving a lot of players on.

Having a go does not mean we’re definitely losing. Seems like many people think it’s certain to lose if we pass better and build up with more purpose. In fact it’s entirely opposite, they are in such bad form that confidence is absolutely non existant. We simply did not capitalise on this. We actually let them have more of the ball and build up possession confidence. Crosses after crosses in the second half, absolutely unbelievable.

We face a similar position not Long ago, inferior teams play us and constantly apply pressure till we crumble. I will be laughing my ass off if Arsenal, Spurs or even Burnley visit Goodison, park the bus and let us build confidence.

Can you name a couple of teams in the league who have 3 players in the starting line up or thereabouts (Baines/Williams/Jags) or those of the quality of Cuco Martina in defence that are able to play attacking football and pick up points in the way we are doing for the past 8 games?

If we'd gone at them all guns blazing (which is essentially impossible at the moment with our players) and lost would that have been better for you mate?

To want us to pass better, move better is not entirely impossible and absolutely does not mean 100% loss. This crystal ball fear mongering prediction is hard for me to understand.
The same can be ask, do you not want us to hold the ball better, apply pressure on them, test their goalkeeper more often? Does it not make you feel better?

You said Silva has not proven anything. But, he has won major trophies in two different countries and is just 40 years of age.

Yes in the Premier League. And yes I was saying I perfer Sam because he was proven to save clubs from relegation. You use Sam as comparsion. Don't move the goal post.

When we got beaten by Leicester we got 8 points from 10 games. Now 20 games played Sam got 27 points. A much needed individual who can steady the ship at the right time. Much like the time when we appointed Moyes. I rather have him in charge then someone like Silva who has proven nothing. I think what Sam needs to do now is to help Everton overtaking Burnley and get EL place.

But you mocked poor @Kev The Rat when he suggested it?? Fortunately for you Kev is living it up on a private beach with all the minge one man can handle so he's been able to get over your harsh criticisms.

So BFS gets his January signings and next year we will be challenging for top four ? Not a chance and I think most on here really know it. He has hit his ceiling already with draws against 2 of the "big" teams, bask in this now, lap it up, this is as good as it is going to get under him. I never fell for the panic that enveloped the club and most fans, it was just too early in the season and we had a tough start. Cant wait to get shut and forget that he was ever allowed into our club.

Hes done what his remit is. Get us out of trouble and sort the defence out. Whats peoples problem with that?

The next stage is sorting out our attacking play. We are still way way short. Target Man needed, probably another 2 strikers to give us options and A left footed winger. Maybe if we are being greedy a couple of more fast, pacy, creative and positionally flexible attacking players.

Then the defence still needs work on. A left back, couple of centre backs (a couple with pace would be great) This allows us to play further up the pitch. We cant do this atm because there is hardly any pace in the squad. (Coleman back and Bolasie being around should help with this too as a team)

A centre mid. Someone of the Viera mould would be great. We need someone who adds something different. Nzonzi has been mentioned. Someone who is big, athletic and breaks up play would be very welcome. No more Schederlin types are needed in this squad.

We need to get injured players back asap. Like Coleman, Mori, McCarthy and Barkley. All big losses. Along with Rooney being ill atm.

Im a lot happier with him in charge than Koeman. Yes we dont play the footy that we want yet. But im sure it will get better under Allardyce. Once he gets his players in and is confident we can play more attacking footy without conceding goals. I think thats were his thinking is at the minute. He knows fully well we wont accept much more of what we are serving up atm. This happened at West Ham and Newcastle and im sure he wont want it happening again. Hes said it in a couple of his interviews that we have not been good with the ball and need to do more with it going forward.

Relax we are in a much better positon than when he took over. We were [Poor language removed] under Koeman and marginally better under Unsy in terms of scoring goals and putting in more effort. But we were still not very good. We are at least improving and have structure to our play.

We are not the finished article yet though! Have patience with us

So? If Big Sam got 7th with this squad then he has proven me wrong.

Have you ever predicted anything wrong? I bet not.

PS. Kev hope you are right on that. I rather I look a bit silly there because I hope Everton will get 7th or above this season.
