Do you not rate Diego Simeone and didn't like Italian football back in the 90s?

Defence is an art mate ;)

I rate Simeone highly, and whilst Simeone keeps it tight defensively when the need calls for it, I imagine he would have had a go, and tried to beat a team in the Spanish league who were second from bottom, and hadn't won a league game in 17, instead of parking the bus.

Hopefully we can do better than that, but yeah, if our only choices are at Silva level I'd prefer to stick with what we have.
There’ll be no better options than that.

Not a hope in hell the likes of Tuchel or Simeone ride into L4 on a white horse to save us, if that's what some people are mistakenly hoping for.

I guess the point is it would be nice not to set up to avoid defeat but to go for three points against so called lesser opposition. Personally I think he's done well with such apoor unbalanced squad. Sort the defence then add to the attack in January. It's an improvement. We would have lost under koeman and still had hardly a sniff at goalm

Yeah agreed but we cant just ignore/forget the fact that we have won away once all year. There was obviously an issue there.

Please tell me this is not a backhanded attempt to suggest that this is the quality of manager we can attract if Sam leaves.

Newcastle's form coming into our game was 6 losses and 1 draw in the last 7 games, 3 consecutive home losses in a row, scored 6, conceded 17, minus 11 goal difference over the past 7 games

Huddersfields away form coming into our game was, 4 losses in a row, scored 0 goals, conceded 14, throw in there 3 prior away games into that form and in the past 7 away games prior to playing us they had lost 5 drawn 2, scored 0 goals, conceded 16, minus 16 goal difference over there past 7 away games.

West Broms form coming into our game - no wins in the past 17 league games, 4 draws - 4 losses at home, failed to score in 5 of the last 9 games. failed to score in 3 of the last 4 games, 2 draws 2 losses.

so you think we shouldn't have went into those games with any new permanent manager fully expecting usn to get a result mate?

So does our form count for nothing?

Newcastle, Huddersfield and West Brom have been in crap form so we should beat go and beat them (we did get 7 points from them....) wheras we have not won away all season but that form doesn't count?

Cant have it both ways.

I laugh at the suggestion that we could ever get someone of the calibre of Simeone.

It was in reply to what Zat said, asking did I rate Simeone. I think he was trying to point out that Simeone parks the bus like Allardyce does.

Harsh. You can only work with the tools you have. Judge him at the end of the season, if we are still playing bad offensively then you have a point. (although 6 months is still a short period to try and change things)

I'm sure we can play better going forward by moving up the starting positions on the pitch and having a more attacking formation but when we start leaking goals again due to not having the pace and organisation I for one won't find that good football.

For what it's worth I think we will play ok against Bournemouth, they tend not to press as hard as most teams and won't hold back numbers attacking us. With a bit of space we should be ok, but it would be a bonus to get Rooney back.
Nah, we'll set up for a 0-0 and try and nick something from a set piece.

No mate we should have lost to all 3 - happy now?

to have gotten 7 points against those teams was a miracle worthy of Jesus?

Alternatively - it is results we should have expected at least
