We wouldn’t have been any worse off in our performances than we are now and besides, with the appropriate advice and guidance, the Board would have selected the right man for the job, preferably before the end of the season.

Anybody who believes that Sam is the way forward, is just deluding themselves IMHO, of course.

would rather take survival over performance , I agree so long as not long term or the way forward ,

it is well known Sam was brought in to do a job ensure PL status / Top 10 maybe , I believe this will be achieved anyone who expects more than this is delusional

, he inherited no strikers , no fighting spirit / unbalanced squad , Sam has done as well as anyone could have expected .

Just the defence and midfield to sort out now Samuel.

Pickford

Coleman Holgate Funes Mori new LB

New holding mid

New creative mid. Siggurdson

Walcott. Tosun Bolasie

Don’t want to see Gueye or Schneiderlin anywhere near the side.

That front 3 says relegation threatened.

Jury is out on tosun but in 12months I can see massive fume at bolasie and Walcott...

As does the defence (bar Coleman, assuming he gets back to his previous level).

On the subject of the fat crook;

http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ger-of-real-madrid-not-blackburn-2082454.html

Why are you linking an article which is 7.5 years old and slating the manager of Everton football club for no reason.

And no, Holgate doesn't look like a player for a relegation threatened side.

Presently, I would also choose survival, but I’m not sure on recent performances whether sam can even achieve that. Despite the presence of Walcott and Tosun, unless our midfield can start providing them with the service they require and the defence manages to keep a clean sheet on a regular basis - of which neither currently seems capable - it will all be an uphill struggle; as it would have been under Koeman. But at least with the Koeman option, the board would have had the benefit of of a little more time to get his choice of replacement right.

The performances might not have been any better but I very much doubt we would have had that little upturn in fortune between Hammers at home and Baggies away which pulled us clear of the bottom three and, remarkably, into the top half.

And I am absolutely certain we would not have come from two down at home to Watford happen Koeman was still in charge.

Koeman needed to go.

He needed to go when he did go.....if not before.

It is never too early to do the right thing.

And unlike your good self, I would have very little faith in the board selecting the right man for the job, given their record over the past eighteen months.

Koeman hired and millions paid to Saints as compo, millions offered to Watford for the flavour of t’ month and finally going back, cap in hand, to Sam whom had already been interviewed and presumably discounted.

Because the “appropriate advice and guidance” seems to come from Walsh

Even now I am nervous about the next appointment, whether it be this coming May or the next May.

That we ended up with Sam is a whole nother argument.

Sam is most certainly not “the way forward” but that is nowt to do with whether or not firing Koeman at the time was the right thing to do, nay the only thing to do IMO......successor in place or not.

I wonder if we continue to not win games and Watford get shot of Silva would we consider sacking Sam come the end of the season and taking him on?

Personally would rather Fonesca or Tuchel but would take Silva over Sam any day of the week at present.

In such a scenario, us taking on Silva would be further evidence of how quickly this club is run by clueless biffs.

Ditto Watford....they were mad for turning down the dough Moshiri offered them.

I reckon the only reason they have not fired him already is because that stupidity would be writ large and crystallised for all the world to see.

Dont know tbh I think he's lost the dressing room after flirting with the EFC job. Little coincidence that they are playing well until the saga occured then suddenly they are struggling to win a game.

He wouldn't be my number one choice (more like 4th behind Tuchel, Fonesca and Ancelotti) but I would much rather go into next season with him as manager on a free on 70/80k a week wages than Fat Sam stay on at £115k.

but this is the thing.

they were already on the slide before that,

When they came to us, I think they had lost three of their previous four games......one of them home to Stoke.

i take your point about him and Sam though.

if we are going to remain in the doldrums results wise, at least we would see more exciting games under Silva :(

We sacked Matinez, we hired Koeman who was kicked out after just over a season, Sam takes over and now people want him gone and another taking over.
There is no point changing Manager quickly, it just ends up a large squad of players the new manager doesn't want and players not caring because they know they just have to wait 6 months for the next Manager to turn up.
"We were too attacking, we need to be more defensive and last on MOTD" after the third match in 5 we've had 0 shots on target.

I mean, come on. You can't seriously look at the utter dross in the pitch and think "yeah, a man who's won nothing in his entire managerial career is the way forward"
