I fear unless we sack him we could continue to slide. These players have form for it especially under a manager they are disillusioned with who starts criticising them in the media.

This.

Three managers this season, and not one of them has managed to change our fortunes.

Sometime soon the penny is going to drop that maybe, just maybe, the gang of mercenaries we have at our club are happy to pick up their wedge every month, but do absolutely naff all to earn it.

PS

Currently watching Swansea, bottom of the league, having ago, playing with passion and ( as i type) beating the RS.
I think this is a misnomer than only goes around because the number 3 is high.

If we had pulled 3 random people off of the street, and they managed for 1 game each, we technically would have had 3 managers. But it tells us nothing about the players because we would have had no reason to believe they knew what they were doing. 3 managers is different from proven managers. Unsworth hasnt managed a premier league team except in a temporary role. BFS hasnt managed anything but relegation sides in forever. The only one of the three who was seen to be current and a good judge was Koeman up until his collapse.

When a real top manager comes in here, or BFS stops making what appear to be glaringly obvious tactical and substitution mistakes that even the average fan can see, and players still struggle, then you know its the players. Until then its foolishness because BFS and Unsworth dont know anything.

None of this makes sense.

Sam has 1000 games under his belt. Yes he has managed clubs in the bottom half of the Premier league, but to save them from relegation he has somehow managed to get a tune out the players he has managed.

Neither Koeman, Unsworth or Sam have managed to get anything like a tune out of this lot all season.

You say " when a top manager gets here".

Which top manager are you expecting?

It's not "meh" though is it mate?

It's an example that for two, maybe three, generations of Evertonians, the thought of playing in the second tier is a completely unfathomable outcome

Everton are a top flight side who belong in that company

It's literally the only thing we have left as a fan base

Therefore, to hear we can't even rely on that any more is definitely a cause for concern

If Everton loses its top flight status, what does it have left?

Just to go back on this point, Mike.

The seven teams with the longest unbroken spells in the top flight are, in descending order........Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool, Manchester United, Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City.

If we were to fall out of that grouping then the way would be clear for talk of a “Big Six” to go into overdrive as they could then be labelled as the “top six” even in terms of unbroken EPL status.

Since the team Christmas party was supposed to go ahead on 18th December but didn't because of Sam's decision to cancel it, we have played seven games and won none. Now he's calling out the players and telling us some of them can't even be trusted to play in the same team. He's a terrific man manager isn't he?

It is of course a disgrace that an abomination like Allardyce ever got anywhere near the Everton job. But if your stats in relation to the cancelled party are true, it tells us a lot about what motivates the kind of players we have.

I was only really saying it to poke fun at him because I can't stand the bloke, but I don't necessarily think it proves what you're suggesting. It wouldn't necessarily mean the players have downed tools or anything, but poor man management can lead to poor performance. If the players felt hard done by or even just feel they never got the chance to bond a bit and let their head down, it may have had a negative impact on the squad.

You've picked out that phrase and dwelling on it. It is ultimately down to your definition. Clearly you have a different definition to me of a "top international player".

By 'top international players' the point was in response to being considered prime relegation candidates/fodder - the point was there is quality and experience throughout the side. I remember being pleased with how many "leaders" we brought in (Rooney Man Utd/England captain, Williams, Wales captain, Sigurdsson, Klaassen, Ajax Captain) to join the likes of Coleman ROI Captain etc. I'm not saying they're world class, I'm saying this Everton team should be closer to Europa league football than relegation.

The point was, we've only lost Lukaku/Barkley vs last season when we finished on 61 points, 15 points clear of 8th and 8 from Man Utd in 6th.

Our director of football was smug the other week saying take away Lukakus goals and we still finish 7th last season.

So - we've took him away, spent a fortune and there has been some improvements on last season - Pickford to replace Robles, the depth of the squad and what should be competition - despite loads flattering to deceive, the talent is there - Tom Davies being one.

The problem for me is;

1. Lack of outlet/recognised striker.
2. Knock on effect of confidence throughout the team.
3. Setup - Managerial.

Too many football fans nowadays are knee-jerk, they react to the last few weeks - never more than a few weeks from a crisis.

This "crisis" is being overplayed - I think it'll only be a crisis if this board appointed Allardyce with next season in mind. I dont think they did.

So, let's see the season out, finish as strong as we can - appoint a new manager immediately after the season and get building with what is a very decent platform.

A platform that isn't relegation fodder, no matter how much is suits Allardyce to say so.

Felt better about my lunch break after this. Nice. : )

The striker is a major for us, so I'm r1eally hopeful for Tosun, Walcott and Niasse now. But we must be tougher at the back and get quick ball out to those guys (and ideally a few legs in the box to help out).

I think we'll see the season out around mid-table and as you quite rightly say, there is then the makings of a squad. That squad will have by then more experience and the belief from a collective period of struggle behind them, which certainly didn't do Leicester, Burnley and seemingly West Ham or Palace any harm.

Stick together comrades.

Essentially the players wanted the time to bond over a glass of wine and a quiet chat about the lives and love and get into each others psyche....

Sam came in and said, no Bisto no party... THEY ONLY WANTED TAPAS AND SOME BONDING SAM....

Another reason to detest the man.
