A quick question or food for thought...regarding the no 5 shirt. Didn't he want 22 as it had a special meaning. Not sure if its meaning was that he was the only player to have won the treble in consecutive seasons...on 22 May 2010. May is 05...the month...are that maybe why he chose 05?

Can't wait till October when this team is unleashed against lesser opposition.
Howard
Coleman Stones jags Baines
Besic McCarthy
Barkley
Lukaku Eto'o Miralles
Looks great on paper...hope we can fix the defensive issues or we will need to score 3 or 4 to win though

I don't see him as an understudy to Lukaku. He's a different type of player and a better goal scorer right now. Two players at opposite ends of huge careers. It couldn't be better.

And you did'n even add the misterious and unpredictable, but unarguably world-class Arouna Koné to that equation.

What a shrewd move by Bill Kenwright. All he needs to hope for is that the team do well and Samuel will buy him a flashy watch like he did for the Cameroon national team.

He's one of the best centre forwards around.

Unfortunately, for him, he's also spent time playing in the same era as Ronaldo, Messi, Ibrahimovic, Iniesta, Xavi etc.

You're right though, he should defo have been the best footy player in the world, ever.
If you honestly think he's fulfilled his teenage potential, then good for you.

Most don't.

I think facts speak louder than fantasies. We're talking about a player who is on course to be Man Utds all time leading goalscorer. A 5 time prem winner, a champ's league winner, a 2x League Cup winner, and an FA Cup winner.

But hey, who gives a crap we sold him? He's clearly just Jeffers MKII.

You can talk team stats all you want, and his quality means that playing in a side that dominant for so many years (especially for many of their top players were there half the time or playing in poor sides) will mean that, as a very good player, he'll score many goals, but that doesn't mean he reached his fullest potential, or anywhere even close, as his full potential was another few levels on, towards the Messi/Ronaldo category.

17 year old Wayne Rooney had the world at his feet and was explosive, dynamic, a constant threat. Rooney of today is a stripped down version with more tactical discipline but less danger on the pitch and less constant threat, often being anonymous in games.

He's done "well", a "good" job, but the really top drawer adjectives to describe his development aren't applicable to him, especially with his record against the top clubs/important games/on the international stage.

Hahaha, he's frigging boss. You muppet. Top, top, player.
