Robles is better than Stekelenburg and as good as Pickford (a serious overpayment for him and we should and could have got better for cheaper. Also, there is no one better than Deulofeu who Koeman brought in up front. And Stones as a player outside the back four is a very talented player. McCarthy has been ribbed of his effectiveness by injury.

All told the point holds: Koeman inherited a very good core of first team players...which is why even this seasons and after three windows he'll still be using a fair few of them.

Okay, so Koeman inherited a good team because he has one guy whos always injured and cant play, one guy who AC Milan who could only finish 6th didnt want, a CB who wasnt a good CB, and a top striker, along with no wingers, a midfield either missing youth or talent, and a CB core consisting of a young CB who cant play D and an old CB who just doesnt have the legs to match the heart.

In essence, Koeman inherited a Striker, two FBs, and some stopgaps or squad players for a europa league team.
