This is the type of signing we all wanted from Brands, the under the radar South American at a reasonable cost. So whilst 15m isnt the chump change I claim and its certainly a gamble, its defo on the lower end of the dice rolling. I mean what if I told you we will exchange this fella for Besic, McCarthy and say for example Dowell and still come away with money in our pocket.

But as I say, you gotta trust in the scouting, trust in Brands, till he proves he cant be trusted.

Its never about how much we spend, its about always improving the squad, does this fella improve the squad? Well nobody has an utter clue yet and we probably wont for another 3 or 4 years.

If he does sign, I'd be surprised if he'll be anywhere near the first team this season. Much more likely to spend a good six months in the reserves or making the odd cameo from the bench.

A defensive midfielder coming straight from Argentina to England would have to be Mascherano levels of special to just slot in. Plus he's a kid who's just turned 20 and hasn't even played professional football full stop before now.

It's a punt on him turning out to be something special. I trust Brands on it, but this can't be a first team signing.

Even Mascherano only bothered playing for Liverpool. Literally couldn’t be arsed turning up for West Ham.

Mind you everyone is always banging on about why we can’t find the next big thing from South America before they get a premium on them in Europe. These are the types of punts that Spanish and Italian teams take all the time. Sometimes you get an Aguero, sometimes you get a Funes Mori.
