Transfer Rumour Santiago Sosa

Not seen any of the u20 games at all but would hope that this is the first of a couple more signings like this. Would be ideal if we could pick up players at £15mil at u21 age and they go onto become stars...

If you were going to compare him to a well known past/present player then who would it be?
There's no one off the top of my head, again, it's only been 190 minutes at the U20 level that I've now seen him. But he's a traditional No. 6. Moves the ball fast, accurately, with serious velocity and confidence. In the short time I've watched him he hasn't rarely made a bad touch and it's not like he isn't pushing tempo. Decent passing range, too.

His defensive positioning is amazing, though. His awareness in his own end is freakish and his ability to read the play, anticipate a pass, pick it off, and move it into space is really impressive. However, the most impressive thing he does is cover for his fullbacks when they lose it. Argentina plays their backs really high and when they lose it, Sosa is immediately tracking runners back while still looking at the ball and getting into passing lanes extremely well. And he looks FAST when he's doing it - the attackers are not separating, he is running them down. It's really impressive.

He just looks like he's been playing that anchor man / holding mid role his whole life. He just looks supremely competent, but with all the physical attributes you'd want in that role But AGAIN, it's been 190 minutes.

How did Tarashaj look in the U20 world cup when he turned 20? Was he pretty good?

.... I remember Tarashaj was highly-rated when we picked him up - he was in the Swiss squad for Euro 2016 and was a star in age-group levels for Switzerland. I get that these sort of signings are always a bit of a punt and for maybe every five, one might be a real star - however our previous record in this department ain't great.

Let's hope Brands has the magic touch.

He's the Argentinean Henry Onyekuru. We'll sign him, loan him for two years, then sell him as he'll be refused a work permit. One year later, he'll join the filth for 65m.

Ha! They were as bad as us by the end of 2014/15. Two things happened within a year though. We got Koeman they got Klopp. It's always them isn't it with the good ideas. For the first time in my life I have literally no defence for my persistent supporting of this rotten, directionless club, when I'm in a room outnumbered by Reds at least 5:1... sorry, 6:0 as they'd put it now.

Kuntz all of them.
Those 5 reds must just love being with you mate? Your impotent rage must massage their ego’s endlessly? The only sure fire way to deal with the RS and keep your sanity as an Evertonian is to show them utter disinterest. Let them prance about like cretins just shrug and say “I’m very happy for you”. It utterly confuses them, the poor brainless little lambs :)

Ole has more Twitter followers than Everton.

I'd say this one is definitely on.

Have some of that @Eggs

....yep, makes sense Azza, given Brands knowledge and contacts in the S American market but don’t count your ‘new thread’ chickens just yet!!!

Be quite happy if it happens as I trust Brands to have done his homework on the youngster if the links are true.

So, the new Fernando Redondo ;)
