After the last incumbents?
He's done a lot better than I thought.
He can only work with the tools (no joke) he has.
I think the momentum was lost .
All those players have had a long tough season.
If he goes he'll have plenty of suitors.
I don't doubt that but some of his squad selections are just odd, you can't tell me there is not better options than Dykes or Adams up top (neither of whom are actually Scottish) in the under 21's. They just seem to run out ideas so quickly in some games.

Up top has always been the problem recently.
He can't magically find a goalscoring forward.
Mackie and Rhhodes had a go ,they don't sound very Scottish either.

I take your point but he there have been some weird selections/tactics, not to mention the disastrous Euros campaign. I know folk down South might scoff, but this is one of the best crop of players we've had for a long time, yet we still seem miles off where we should be. Don't get me wrong, I'm no Clarke-hater like many of my Rangers supporting mates, but that was shocking last night. Playing McTominay in defence while Souter, who's been a flippin' titan at the back for Hearts, is on the bench. He was
needed last night. It's also weird how Ryan Gauld doesn't get a shout. I don't know who I would appoint, but I reckon Clarke should walk.

The mctominay thing was odd.
But Hanley playing was odd.
Thought McKenna might've got a start.
If clarke goes, nobody of merit would take it.

Was so weird in general.

Scotland were on a 9 game unbeaten streak as well, right? This makes the random selection even worse in a way. Like a man with no plan for this game, despite the fact he had a working one the past 9-10 times lol

I'm not a Scotland supporter BTW but there seems to be a vast shortage of Scottish strikers, seriously who would you put in instead of Dykes or Adams? Those two helped them with the teams recent form over the past couple of years which has been tremendous and seen them punching well above their weight.
One poor game at the end of a long season shouldn't see them getting hung out to dry IMO.

Surely Clarke has to hand his jotters in after that last night. Terrible selection and tactics
Surely you're not serious? Can you remember how bad things were before Clarke took over? The results he's fashioned over the past couple of years has been nothing short of a minor miracle with what he has to work with and let's not forget they have qualified for the Euros.
Ukraine were galvanised and had the momentum for that game last night.
Who do you think would actually take the job and do better than Clarke?

I don't know thats why I'm asking, who are the younger players coming through? You can argue Adams has scored the odd goal I suppose but Dykes is dreadful imo.

I think they have to trust that Clarke knows what he's doing as they've just given a good account of themselves in their world Cup campaign.
All that has been done on a threadbare squad supplemented with championship and squad players.
I think you can cut Clarke some slack on one poor performance against a tactically sound side.
As for better players that's my point I don’t think there are any, he's working with what he'd got available and making a good fist of it at the moment IMO.

If Clarke had one decent PL class forward the other night that score ends up a lot closer, and more than likely with a win for Scotland.

Never have I seen an attack pairing at international level as pathetic as Dykes and Adams. How Scotland made it to a play off game for the WC with those two up front is a minor miracle. They are appalling. Barely any link play from them, no composure, no movement, no finishing. When you think of some of the attackers Scotland have had in the past and you compare them to those two. Unreal drop off in standard.
