And in other none Old Firm news.... the draw for the 1st round of the Scottish Cup took place this evening. A number of local derbies plus a few Junior clubs always adds interest even at this early stage :
Ties will be played over the weekend of September 21.
Pick of the draw is Fraserburgh unbeaten and top of the Highland League v Bonnyrigg , unbeaten and top of the Lowland League. I saw the Broch ( Fraserburgh ) the other week , decent team , and favourites for winning the Highland League this season.
First Round Draw
Broxburn Athletic v East Stirlingshire
Buckie Thistle v Civil Service Strollers
Caledonian Braves v Rothes
Cumbernauld Colts v Penicuik Athletic
Dalbeattie Star v Gala Fairydean Rovers
Edinburgh University v Lochee United
Forres Mechanics v Banks O’Dee
Fort William v Vale of Leithen
Fraserburgh v Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic
Gretna 2008 v Hill of Beath Hawthorne
Inverurie Loco Works v Wick Academy
Jeanfield Swifts Linlithgow Rose v Huntly
Keith v University of Stirling
Kelty Hearts v Auchinleck Talbot
Nairn County v Clachnacuddin
Spartans v Deveronvale
Strathspey Thistle v Lossiemouth
Turriff United v Formartine United
Yes some great games here .
Not for the faint hearted.
Forres v Banks of Dee might be a war zone.
Get them back to Torry and I'm going.

The hibs fans are very unsettled at the moment, but don't think a change is imminent. Talk of Naismith taking the reigns in Gorgie, hence the 4 year contract. Killie looking much brighter the last two games, was at the Aberdeen game and liked what I saw, the left back on loan from QPR in particular. Was hoping they'd get a bit more a attacking threat in this window but it all seems tied up to what happens to Greg Taylor

Haha, I don’t think Banks O’Dee are that representative of the good folks of Torry mate. I saw them at home about 15 months ago , a classy team for a Junior side playing good football. I was talking to one of their executive team who I once worked with , and he was saying then that they had no plans of applying for a Highland League place. This appears to still be the case despite walking away with their league in recent years, having turned down an invite to replace Cove in this season’s Highland League. I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat Forres away, no replay necessary!

Rangers paid for not getting Kent in last week in the OF game.

Good move for them to finally sort that deal. He's a handful in that league.

Still be 9-in-a-row for Celtic though.

On a short bout of seriousness...well done to any Scottish person who supports someone other than Celtic or Rangers as that's a supreme waste of time and money.

I know what you mean , I know Scots with the same view as you about the Premier League. They feel sorry for anybody who doesn’t follow City or the RS as their team won’t win the league this season, and see following a team who haven’t won anything for years and years as a supreme waste of time and money.

Mind you they only watch football on tv, never go to a live game and never experience the joy of watching your local team , a pint, local steak pie washed down with a cup of bovril in the middle of a Scottish winter. You may well thinks it’s a supreme waste of time and money, all I can do is smile and think “ You know nothing about Scottish football “.
