Why haven't Newco learned from the lessons of the old Rangers?

Pissing away money.

Because running a sustainable business is lower down their list of priorities than getting one over on Celtic.

I dealt with them on a professional level when I worked on Glasgow 2014 and their attitude in every negotiation was "What you say isn't important. We're Glasgow Rangers."

I know what you mean , I know Scots with the same view as you about the Premier League. They feel sorry for anybody who doesn’t follow City or the RS as their team won’t win the league this season, and see following a team who haven’t won anything for years and years as a supreme waste of time and money.
Mind you they only watch football on tv, never go to a live game and never experience the joy of watching your local team , a pint, local steak pie washed down with a cup of bovril in the middle of a Scottish winter. You may well thinks it’s a supreme waste of time and money, all I can do is smile and think “ You know nothing about Scottish football “.

This poem by a Athletic Bilbao fan in the Guardian derby report yesterday whish sums it up:

If the world is a football
and players nomads
what ties us to this dream, to this history?
They were, we are, a long thread of feeling
from those muddy fields to this stadium
We are heirs of a culture, a way of being
Listen once more to the heartbeat of San Mamés
Listen to the spirit of the fans
Though we may not be the richest
nor, probably, the best
our greatest victory is to be who we are

Oh, of course.

It was merely laying a trap for someone to kick off about the use of Old Rangers.

some good signings by celtic there but it all feels a bit too little too late. should have been done before the CL qualifiers!

cant believe rangers had 7.5 mill for kent either. saying that we never got the money from ball and had to buy jelavic to see it so they might do the same thing

Can only really think that Slippy gave them an ultimatum and following Sunday's game it was obvious they need someone like him who can both match and isn't afraid of yyCeltic.
They got him for a good price IMO interesting to see if he improves their performance next time around as I think the title may well be decided in the Old firm games.
In saying all that, they seem to be putting all their eggs in one basket, surely they're in danger of overstretching themselves once again.

Both Old Firm sides were lucky as well in that the Europa League draw didn't pull up any real nightmare journeys, with Cluj being the most arduous

Wonder why we hate them?

Obviously he doesn't represent every Rangers supporter, but they really need to do more to rein in the worst element of their fan base

I'd like to think that if an Evertonian made a quip like that to a Liverpool player, other Everton supporters would set him straight pretty sharpish

You do hear some dissenting voices on that video, but I think it was police rather than other Rangers fans
