SCRAP VAR

It's not even just the technology of VAR it's how it's administered in the EPL its full of bias and inconsistencies because the refs are absolutely terrified of ever giving a decision against any sky club. Also they're just awful. Germany has the right way of doing it they have a independent panel who look at the screens, not someones biased mate talking to their other mate. What I hate is the way it robs us of goals it's a joykiller look at Gray's goal and Isak last night, what would we prefer more goals or goals ruled off for a arm or a nasal hair beyond a artificial line.

….nothing wrong with VAR, just it’s interpretation.

it’s here to stay.
What does that mean? The two are inextricably linked. Technology can only improve matters where there is absolutely no need for interpretation , as with the over the goal line use. Furthermore, how can you say there's 'nothing wrong with VAR' when the drawing of the line(s) to consider offsides is in itself a subjective judgement.

Linesman flagged gray offside anyway so even without VAR it would have been ruled out
So two wrongs make a right? Question for me was why did the linesman flag? VAR had to look at it anyway. No way could he have been absolutely clear that Gray was off. What his action did do was to make it more likely the goal would be overturned by VAR since it is easier to side with the officials (even in this case where only one official considered it offside, the other not even asking to look at it on the screen).

why have liners at all? Goal line tech can be applied to the extent of play lines, there can be a sensor in the ball to determine exactly when it is kicked, and each player can be made to wear a transponder, as many already do, if the transponder is in the same place for everyone, it should be easy for software to interpret where the players are exactly when the ball is kicked. On field discipline can be enforced by video monitors who ask the ref to look fat anything contentious. That is how to apply technology, not to get some halfwit wh knows the rules of football but not the game.

I hate VAR with a passion, other than Clattenburg and a few other bad days for refs, I largely couldn't complain before VAR. The problem is that it's even more problematic than before, in that you get decisions like the penalty against City. It's done nothing to deal with the corruption within the game, see last night, there was no reason to add on 2 and a half extra minutes for Liverpool yet they did. It's why I'm getting sick of the game, rugby doesn't have these problems because if the lack of corruption in it. Also look at Lukakus goal against the RS, clearly onside, yet they played an angle where he looked off. City got a goal disallowed, when it hit someone with his hands by his side, when Ali handled it in our box is wasn't a penalty. Look at the Gordon decision last year, plus Manes numerous assaults on the pitch. As long as someone ain't blatantly offside then it shouldn't be an issue. The problem is that decisions miraculously benefit a certain time across the park, that's the problem.

Not sure that fat shaming the officials is the right way to go lol

…because the drawing of the line shouldn’t be subjective.

The only issues with VAR offsides are:
1. the time they take
2. People taking about lines & frames

Easy fixes:
1. VAR offsides will be (semi??) automated shortly, which will improve the speed
2. Don't show people the images

VAR is currently a discussion about centimetres. People forget pre VAR the decision was a random guess from someone 30 metres away and subject to errors of feet, or even metres.

2. The conclusions they come to

Easy fixes:

2. Stop taking backhander from the Sky6

On a more serious note, rather than freeze frames and drawing lines, it is easier to compare moving objects (that are moving in different directions) if the footage is merely slowed down.

It aint going to happen because they don't want it improving, they quite like the narrative of the status quo as it keeps the favourites at the top.

Should give 1 foot/30cm benefit of the doubt to the attacker.

Different stride pattern or leaning around the defender shouldn't be penalised.
