2018/19 Seamus Coleman

My criticism of Seamus is his final ball, he gets into some brilliant positions then very rarely finds a teammate. Still a top class player though. Btw, it wasnt a penalty yesterday, a good guide is their players never reacted, the ref was in a good position and television evidence this morning proved it wasnt.

But a modern day fullback has to have more end product or at the very least be completely solid at the back. Coleman is neither these days mate.

I hope Brands can find us a right sided Digne next summer as him and Walcott are not good enough to be guaranteed starting 11 players anymore imo.

He would be a better player if he had a better player in front of him. IT can't be easy having to watch the opposition and your own player. A more in form winger would give him more confidence. If he thought he had someone playing in front of him that would cover for him we might see a return to the days of him driving into opposition box and getting a few goals. Playing behind Walcott he is always going to be more concerned with defending rather than getting forward.

Hes not the player he was pre- injury, but think he will be our first choice rb for next 2-3 seasons. Re Walcott, i think hes doing ok imo. His ball retention is good and does hold the ball up bringing others into the game which sometomes goes unnoticed. His finishing leaves a bit to be desired though.

Now we’ve got the financial backing to challenge the top 6, it’s inevitable we need to upgrade the squad continually.

I don’t understand the mentality of “fans” who feel the need to target the weekest link all the time. Silva & Brands will know what they want. I’d be surprised if we don’t see a RB come in in Jan & when that happens, Seamus will give 100% (as always) & fight for his place. All part & parcel of professional sport. Nobody could say we haven’t had incredible value or that he’s ever given less than 100% for the club. And he’s a genuine lad too.

Sadly, some people have to look for the negative in everything. Says more about them than the object of their bitter ranting.

His final ball has always been terrible

It was a great tackle, sad to see that Zatitis has spread like wildfire through our ranks
He completely missed the ball Prev lol
It’s funny that they don’t show the close up angle they showed on the telly. It’s almost as if they don’t want officials to be held accountable or something.

It’s similar to the pen conceded when playing Palace.

Massive game for him sunday.

If he gets the run around by Mane and/or concedes a pen not even his biggest supporters can argue he doesnt need moving to the bench with a top RB coming in.

Done by Martial in Utd game

Gives penalty away at Palace

Lucky not to give pen away at Cardiff

He's not even got the attacking end product to justify his selection at present.

Massive performance needed from him and a reason why I would like us going 3 at the back to have some cover for him.

I completely agree mate, we should definitely completely change the formation and set up to something which doesn't suit any of the other players because we almost gave away a penalty in a game we won.

Completely ignore all the points in my post to go off on some mad tangent.

Coleman has been our weak link at the back all season and those points above you cant argue with as they are FACHTS.

on 3 at the back -

1. Silva has used 3 at the back in his managerial career and mentioned the possability of using it when Mina became match fit in one of his press conferences.

2. We played 3 at the back against Chelsea once we fell under the cosh and actually started to look much better.

You or I dont know if Silva has practised this system in training or not, but what I do know is that if he plans tp negate Liverpools main strength and our main weakness then 3 at the back is definitely a good system to utilise.

We also havent scored in open play against Arsenal, Chelsea or Utd - so all this chest puffing out some of our fans are doing saying 3 at the back would stop us taking the initiative and smashing them is completely deluded - our best hope is a goal from a set piece sunday and Mina, Zouma and Keane all on the pitch would cause them problems from set pieces.
