Stek saved 2 pens in ONE game one time lets chuck Pickford out of the nets and get him in...

That makes zero sense. You said "He's not even got the attacking end product to justify his selection at present." to which I am merely pointing out that he scored 3 games ago. I didn't say he scored 2 seasons ago or anything which would be relevant to your Stekelenberg point.

You also praised Digne (rightly so) but if we are being strict here, where is his end product?

Digne has put a good few crosses in this season but sadly no one has got on the end of them. He's doing the business largely defensive wise but is causing opposition defences problems going forward whereas Coleman has done neither this season apart from score 1 goal.

I am certainly not having a go at Digne. But you are saying Coleman has no end product whereas Digne has just been unlucky. You can't have it both ways! The truth is somewhere in the middle.

You miss my point, im not saying Digne is better than Coleman based on his attacking play, Im saying Digne has largely been fantastic defensively whereas Coleman has conceded penalties, been done for pace and looked the weak link all season in the defence.

Now if Coleman was scoring and assisting goals left, right and centre (or even just whipping in dangerous crosses) you could make an argument for keeping him as number one but he hasn't done so he doesn't deserve a guaranteed starting 11 come past Janaury or in the summer.

But a modern day fullback has to have more end product or at the very least be completely solid at the back. Coleman is neither these days mate.

I hope Brands can find us a right sided Digne next summer as him and Walcott are not good enough to be guaranteed starting 11 players anymore imo.
I'm inclined to give him more time to get his fitness and form back. He's arguably been the best right back in the league over the 5 years prior to his horrendous injury, certainly in the top 3 at least without question. And during that time he's stayed loyal to us in a period when we have been average at best. He deserves a bit of loyalty in return.

He's a player who needs to be fully fit to be effective and the foot injury he sustained on International duty in September hasn't helped. He has been better the last couple of games and fingers crossed the real Seamus is on his way back. He is in his prime years so still plenty left to give.

If he shows no sign of getting that form back by the end of the season, then I agree we should be looking to replace him. It would still be a sad day if that happens.

I think we need to understand that players are asked to perform different tasks for the team as a new manager shapes his team and we are not sure exactly what is expected of Coleman.. or indeed any player.
We are more solid at the back now so it may be that Coleman has a more defensive aspect to his role in the team and can't bomb forward whenever he wishes as in previous years.
Sometimes the changes in the role of different players can be missed by us fans.

Completely ignore all the points in my post to go off on some mad tangent.

on 3 at the back -

1. Silva has used 3 at the back in his managerial career and mentioned the possability of using it when Mina became match fit in one of his press conferences.

2. We played 3 at the back against Chelsea once we fell under the cosh and actually started to look much better.

You or I dont know if Silva has practised this system in training or not, but what I do know is that if he plans tp negate Liverpools main strength and our main weakness then 3 at the back is definitely a good system to utilise.

We also havent scored in open play against Arsenal, Chelsea or Utd - so all this chest puffing out some of our fans are doing saying 3 at the back would stop us taking the initiative and smashing them is completely deluded - our best hope is a goal from a set piece sunday and Mina, Zouma and Keane all on the pitch would cause them problems from set pieces.
3 at the back (effectively is 5 defenders)
That means we lose an attacking option.
Not for me thanks , system aint broke so dont try to fix it...and defo not at Anfield.

Nobody deserves a guaranteed start regardless. But again we are in a good run of form and people are trying to change things.

It's not January or summer yet so a lot can change during that time but as per usual people can't wait to write players off. He has conceded one penalty as far as i can remember?

Look how rubbish Keane was last season. Things can easily change.

He won't be scoring and assisting all the time because he is a right back at the end of the day.

I don't think I am missing your point at all, you said Coleman has no end product, I was just pointing out he has had more than Digne this season.

Any position can be improved, but seeing as it wont happen until the summer probably (if indeed it happens) why not get behind the bloke in the meantime? he has shown he is capable.

Has created the most chances in the league this season for a full back, not his fault they aren't getting buried

I'm not having a go at him! Just saying if we are being strict and sticking to the OPs point then he has no "end product".

Chances created is a rubbish stat anyway. means nothing.
