Then comes out and says "they wanted it more" Sorry Seamus but that's a damning indictment of your captaincy,The managers voice on pitch can't even lead by example. Hate to get all mellow dramatic but these past few seasons have muddy the memories of the all action full back we knew. I could forgive him for his obvious playing flaws, because of the fight he'd bring to the team, but we can't even get that out of him now.
We have a lamentable record of not doing the old Brian Clough/Peter Taylor thing: replacing players one day after their value begins to decline.

Coleman should have been shipped on in 2017. Evertonians are often decent people. They are loyal. But we are loyal to a fault. By being loyal, we simply get to watch our once-loved figures decline in front of our eyes to the point where they are unrecognisable to what they previously were. Then, it becomes toxic.

If we allow players to decline, we allow the team to decline. Seamus could have been kept around as a backup, but we never replaced him. And this in a time when we had money to spend. It's dreadful squad management.

Correct,Kind Sir.

This thread is making me very angry. Never read such nonsense from certain people.

No Davies to Blame so we will go with Seamus. Holgate has been great no doubting that, how many times assists has he had?

Was Coleman at fault for goals recently?

Move on for a scapegoat

Baines was never this poor on a consistent basis. You have to ask why we replaced him when he was at a high level but have ignored right back with a far bigger decline from Seamus.
Not questioning Baines performances at the time, obvious that injuries and age having an impact yet we done nothing to find a replacement, seems to be repeating itself with the Seamus situation, though at least we do have right back in Kenny, who though clearly not good enough is not a 3rd rate right back filling in at left back as with Martina....

He's not good enough anymore, and in all honesty a bad captain. He's not being scapegoated. It's got absolutely nothing to do with other players. It's to do with him.
