2021/22 Seamus Coleman

Probably the most enigmatic player of the premier league era. Bought for 60k, known by many as the best right back in the league at his peak, career changing injury, recovers and still does a job. Club captain and well respected by every Evertonian, and more importantly by his fellow players and managers..
Great way about him and very scarce today. He could have abandoned us years ago for better things if he wanted to.
Yet some of our ̶b̶e̶l̶l̶e̶n̶d̶s̶ /fans want to slag him at every opportunity. Baffling.
Sound post, but you didn't mention the horrific double leg break.

Yet he fought his way back.

Compare him to the sick notes who steal a living from this club because of a broken finger nail.

As an Irishman, I take a great interest in Seamus. He's been a great servant and an honest pro for years. Sadly, he's also been washed up for the best part of four years now and the club has allowed him to decline along with our fortunes. That goal yesterday, though, was full of vim and vigour. Most of all, it was brave.

Just want to see him there for when the tide turns.
That he was there, that he helped bring them there.
Then retire as the club legend he is.

Know it’s already been posted but for me this is already one of the iconic Everton images.

A mid-season home win against Leeds might not go down in history among our biggest matches but no one knew more than this guy how important that game yesterday was.

To get soppy for a second, Seamus to many people is the epitome of Everton Football Club. For myself you could probably tell by my picture here that I just love the man and seeing his face after that goal yesterday honestly the emotion was just unreal.

I’m Irish too, so having a player like him to represent Everton is amazing, he’s very much like Roy Keane, not the “hard man” character he plays up to but the man himself. A good man who demands the highest of standards and tries his best to help the team, even playing through pain and injury.

I’ve also of course not been able to make it to Goodison for years now at this stage with the way the world has gone but even through the tough times having a lad like Seamus leading us through thick and thin, with his clear passion for the club is enough to keep any fan from anywhere feeling involved.

In an era where there are a lot of players that don’t really give a toss aside from money or even worse have done heinous things, unfortunately at our club we’ve got people who’ve done both at the minute, it’s great to have a man leading us that is just like us, he cares and he’ll give his all even if he’s not on that same level anymore.

The worst thing about the criticism he gets is he’ll know more than anyone that his performances should be better but some fans just don’t care, sometimes that criticism from the fans go beyond him as a player and go to him as a man and that’s where I can’t stand it. In this day and age we’re lucky to have someone so committed, we won’t quite know what we have until it’s gone.

I think in this generation of Everton fans there are 2 players more than any that carry the club’s hearts on their sleeve, Leighton Baines and Seamus Coleman. I think fans in Liverpool will naturally gravitate to Baines and rightfully so but for myself personally I’ve seen no greater Evertonian than Seamus Coleman in my lifetime and I do hope that once he does hang up his boots he’s given the respect and praise that he more than deserves.
