He is so dull. He couldn't inspire a drunk to stand up while waving a bottle of whisky. Please be the end if his games, he was never great, severely overrated by many and us a liability most games now
He’s dull in media interviews because he’s being professional but we’ve all seen the passion he’s got on the pitch, I’m sure he’s a different character in the dressing room.

He’s past it sadly, but he was a quality player before the leg break, my favourite Everton player in the Martinez period.

I don’t think even his biggest fan would be sad to see him replaced in the starting eleven for good but I also don’t see what anyone would have against keeping him around the squad.

He is a serial loser who is dull , beyond dull. What is he going to do around the squad exactly. He reminds me of the John major doll on spitting image. (For those old enough to remember it)

You missed his eyes when he scored recently. In those eyes were the passion and relief of scoring and at the same time the sorrow for the errors he made before that in a game that cost us. If you didn't see that in the eyes you're the one who can't see the passion- it doesn't mean it isn't there. He's not dull. He lives and breathes Everton.

Yeah ok, a kid from Ireland who didn’t even grow up playing football fought hard enough to get a career in the biggest league in the world and captain his country - total loser.
Same man who came back from a horrific leg break where many said he’d never play again - loser.
He’s past it - agreed. He needs replacing and shouldn’t be our starting RB - agreed. You don’t like him - ok, up to you but this lad is no loser and is not ‘beyond dull’.

What I don't really get is why he get so much grief from "supporters":

Coleman doesn't pick himself in the team roster.
Coleman did not make himself the captain.
Coleman did not willingly lose pace.
Coleman did not willingly break his legs.
Coleman did not throw tantrums to get a lucrative contract extension.
Coleman did not force the club to not find replacement for himself.
Coleman did not force the succession of managers (with different systems and personas) to keep on choosing him.

Does he need replacing? For sure. Does he go out in the market and do the shopping for Everton? As per some here, he should be doing that as well, because...
Is time catching up with him? Sure. Should he be retired gracefully? Sure.

There there are those who keep on saying "don' talk about characters and morals because... Football", and then keep silent when he is insulted and verbally abused for non-footballing reasons (He is so dull and uninspiring, blah. blah blah). Then there are clowns who call him clown because...

You want to shout at him for mistakes made in a game, I can understand that, but to vilify him and to insult him for things beyond his control is plain old stupid. It's like calling you an idiot for Global Warming (In a way all of us are, but hey YOU did global warming)_

It is always the same bitter posters who for some reason love to hate one of the finest people that has ever graced the RBJ. When he has a good game they disappear under their fetid rocks.

I am happy to note what professional footballers and managers think about him, than a crowd of sour keyboard warriors.

There is more humanity and passion in his little toe than in all of these haters put together. What interesting lives they must lead.

Its a long held belief of mine that no football fans on the planet have such an ingrained need for a hate figure in their own team than Evertonians do? We are such a strange brew?

Yes mate, but in 53 years following this Club, I don't remember such vitriol. I know the net wasn't around until the 80s and that "social media" has really only taken off since around 2000.

I am also only too aware that the vast majority of Evertonians are fair minded, constructively critical, connoisseurs of fine footballers, who love this Club as much as they do.

The loud "warriors" are like the empty vessels making the most noise.

Football rules peoples lives, Everton means everything to a lot of people , maybe it’s not the be all and end all for you and you can take a player making a mistake on the chin.

But a lot of fans can not, we were in a relegation scrap and the same players kept costing us goals by making schoolboy errors. What do you want the fans to say , jolly good try sir

You’re in the wrong sport

I don’t think anyone has a problem with Coleman getting a hammering if he makes a mistake, I’ve given it out when that’s happened too.
I don’t think anyone has a problem saying Coleman needs to be replaced asap, in fact should’ve been replaced about three seasons ago and isn’t up to standard.
What I, and a lot of others have a problem with is:
People questioning his character
People questioning his commitment
People saying he’s the worst captain we’ve ever had
People saying he’s always been crap
People making out he’s snaked his way into stealing a wage
People being genuinely disrespectful about the man’s career

He’s past it now, but he was a great player who at one time I genuinely wouldn’t have swapped for another right back in the league and he clearly loves the club. We saw this kind of crap aimed at Cahill and Jagielka at the end of their times with us too and I really hope Coleman is properly replaced so the ugliness will end.

Agree 100% Good man. I know this forum is rightly a collection of mixed views on all matters (it has to be) but nonetheless those haters on here who constantly knock Seamus really need to look at themselves. I lie asleep at night safe in the knowledge that the vast majority of fans inside and outside of Goodison adore him because they see the love, passion, ability and service he has given to our club. It must be hard for the haters to get themselves off to sleep knowing this.
