2024/25 Seamus Coleman

Yes. And he should not still be playing for Ireland when his body obviously can’t handle it. He’s reckless and selfish towards the plight of Everton these days.

It’s all good though he puts out a decent weekly rallying cry that the team will do better. If he makes it onto the pitch.
This is nonsense! He’s Irish, he wants to play for his country - that’s all

There’s no way on earth you could say ‘mate, here’s your contract extension but you can’t represent your country’ it’s not happening .
We absolutely could have said that. He could've told us where to go, of course, and they we could've said thanks for your service best of luck with the rest of your career. We've got to stop acting like a charity to a select group of players. I wouldn't have offered Coleman another contract under any circumstances, he's broken, however it boggles the mind the number of times he's either just returned to playing for us or has not yet returned to playing for us but is magically available for his national team only to return injured again. At which point we sort out his rehab. I sincerely hope nobody with any sense suggests offering him a new contract "so he can walk us out at BMD". It's bad enough that he's physically finished but the fact that the club that has supported him through a series of serious injuries and made him a millionaire is considered a second priority is not good enough and certainly doesn't support his Mr Everton persona. He's got to cease being an Everton player at the end of the season. If he wants to stay as a coach, no problem (although that should be with one of the age groups, not the first team), but if he wants to prolong his Éire international career then he needs to find somewhere else to do his part time day job.

He’s an OAP, if he’s serious about captaining the club at his age he shouldn’t be playing international football. He can barely string a few prem games together. Absolute stupidity and here we are.
Since when? It’s his career and country. It happens
Anyway, I don’t particularly care, just think it’s not our call if he plays for his country. Fir many footballers I assume it’s country first tbh

Be in there, prob the Excelsior before that id say! ;)

It’s the nature of the job. Bad luck is not something you can legislate for. Shall we tell all our players not to play further countries in case they get injured? It can’t be done

Our other intentional players, not that we have many, aren’t made out of Weetabix mate.

If Coleman didn’t have such a bad injury record no one would complain about him playing for Ireland.

Fair enough. I don’t have an issue with it personally, all footballers do it. He’s just unlucky

Let’s all take a breather here if it’s one thing I know about seamus it’s that he’d hate us quarrelling amongst ourselves over him

In the cold light of day - it shouldn't be an issue.

We should have signed a good right back 5 years ago capable of coming into the team consistently with Seamus getting on.

Funny thing here is lids freaking about this, will be calling him a wage thief when he's fit and playing.

The fact that it is an issue, is reflective of poor succussion planning at the club.

FFS Everton.
