Seamus Coleman

Swansea away i have a feeling he might have a little niggling injury that doesn't allow him (Taylor) to play, in fear of retribution..

One thing that's beginning to irk me is people trying to excuse Taylor's actions as somehow out of character, a one off.
Taylor is and always has been a nasty little twit. He is a second rate yard dog with plenty of previous. At this moment ,and admittedly I'm still fuming, I'd love the opportunity to hound him out the game for good. Horrible bellend.

There is a brilliant article further back in this thread, by an Arsenal fan - worth a read.

The usual healing time for a mid-shaft Tibia and Fibula fracture treated with cast immobilisation is 12 to 16 weeks. This is followed by rehabilitation with a Chartered Physiotherapist to restore the range of ankle and knee movement, and to restore the muscle strength that is lost during the immobilisation period.

Yes if Seamus shows the same attitude to the rehab period as he does to his football he is cabable of a strong comeback. Very encouraging reaction from the football world this morning and he's a player who deserves a lot of support, best case scenario he has a full recovery (possible). The mental toughness is there in him and the rehab techniques are solid these days. I am so gutted for him but trying to clutch at the positives.

I think it's on Neil Taylor and Gareth Bale/Wales in general to come back with something now; a big gesture re. the state of healthy rivalry and people's careers- that was two leg-breaker challenges in one game and rivalry that seemed to cross over from healthy sports aggression to intention to harm... a small but very un-football step. Hurt the opposition with goals and let your opponent come back another day for gods sake.

Not a cat's chance in hell he's only out for 5 months, that injury doesn't look like no simple fracture - look at the leg immediately after the challenge. Flopping in all directions.

It'll take 9-10 months at the absolute minimum before he's fit to play PL football again.

Got it online, obviously there is a big difference between "recovery time" and "getting match fit and being able to play football", professional athletes might recover faster since their body is much fitter than the rest of us and they have access to advanced technologies and people to recover faster, he won't be back playing in 6 months but won't be out for a year, i guess he will be back playing around new year (8 to 9 months)

I see John Hartson has gone the way of the myopic Chris Coleman as well. What is wrong with these people? If you've got nothing to say other than defending Taylor then don't bother saying it. Beyond patronising to hear these excuses.

The challenge is an absolute shocker. When Mori lunged on Origi last year we were all unanimous in saying it was a disgrace. Just call the tackle out for what it is.

How long does it take to recover from a fractured tibia?
According to the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, or AAOS, a fractured tibia takes from four to six months to heal and sometimes longer. The healing time varies depending on the type and severity of the fracture.

..Cisse had a dreadful leg break for the Reds against Blackburn at the end of October but was back playing in mid-April.

Leg breaks always take a long time to heal. At the moment there is no point on speculating on any sort of a return date. I feel numb - many others have expressed it far better than I ever could - my heart goes out to the lad.

Football needs to take leg-breaking tackles seriously.. I mean, really seriously. A 3 match ban is nothing - nothing at all. Every professional footballer should know that if they go in with studs showing, they risk medium-term damage to their own career.

Atleast some positive news that it's 6 months healing time then probably another 1-2 months to get back to match fitness.

We definitely need to bring in a whole new defence this summer though. We've needed a successor for Baines for a while now and I think it's ideal to sign a good RB incase Coleman doesn't come back the same player. Add 2 CB's as I said earlier Moshiri will have to get the cheque book out this summer on top of a new GK and 1+2 forwards.

TBH what sort of character Taylor is is wholely beside the point. He may be a decent lad, he may not be, but that is a subjective opinion. What is clearly fully not subjective is the consequences of his conduct last night, which should be the only thing considered when discussing how to handle this and how steer the game away from this sort of play.

Injuries are part and parcel of football, however challenges like last nights are not. Even more gutting that it should be to a model professional who represents the club with such dignity. Here's hoping to a full recovery for seamus.
