Seamus Coleman

Holgate and Kenny could not perform any worse than the so called established players.

I'd give them a go.

Holgate and Gana were our best outfield players during the first five games. Add Tom in and BOOM watch us go.

You really hate Seamus don't you ?

OK, seeing you keep avoiding my question, I'll tweak it a bit. If you thought Seamus had been playing consistently well would you still want to replace him with Holgate ?

I'm genuinely interested btw, so a yes or no somewhere in the answer would be good ;)

What we should have is a first 11 (senior pros) and a second 11 (u23s)

The first eleven has the current best players in it and the second eleven has u23s who can potentially be premier league stars.

During games the three subs should be used to give these u23s game time...remember they are all potential stars so can also positively impact games.

During this time if a first eleven player is sub-par or suspended/injured and an u23 comes in and performs well then he keeps his place

At this stage lets use the example of Holgate/Coleman. Holgate is motm in his last game...thus he keeps his starting spot.

In the u23 league Coleman then starts and Kenny is either played in an alternative position or benched but gets minutes as a sub. When Coleman is sub-par or injured/suspended then Kenny takes his place.

Rinse and repeat

Eventually you 'should' see strong competition for places with the hungry u23s pushing the senior pros and keeping their place on merit.

However under Koeman this is not the case.

During the course of the season if the u23 player has pushed out the senior pro then the senior pro should be sold and another young player promoted to be understudy.

In this case if Holgate took Colemans place for most of the season then Coleman would be sold and Kenny would be understudy to Holgate.

When necessary we can also buy stars from overseas if the 1st team player isnt good enough and the u23 player isnt ready to step up

If the whole league agreed to do that, that aint the worst idea in the world.

I get what you're saying but you're plainly a politician and didn't directly answer the question !

Reading between the lines I think you're saying that if Coleman ( or any other senior pro ) is judged to be playing well then they keep their place ?

Yes, or No ?

We shouldnt want the whole league to do this.. this should be the ethos of the club and promoting from within...based on merit.

Thats the only way to compete with the clubs spending huge amounts, need to buy players like Stones..Holgate..Hornby and Calvert Lewin etc. .but buy more of them at higher prices if needs be.

Our u23s should have players with star potential in each position...would take 2-3 years to see the benefits in the first team but its how we compete with the money spenders.

Wouldnt argue with that.

But. IF the whole league did it, some of the woes of the national side might be sated. Wont happen mind, but like I said, good idea.

If a player is on form and no other u23 player shows he is superior at that time and there isnt a signing we could make of superior quality then yes then the first team player keeps his place.

If Dominic-Lewin came in as a sub and knocked in a hattrick then he keeps his place and Lukaku is benched.

Thats healthy competition.

Hell of a difference between having concerns after a patchy period, and being absolutely against the bloke from day one, hence being "happy" that you have won the internet.

im not happy about it...we "should" have more points on the board...looking at the games so far we "should" be 1st...

When we have the more difficult games then we will rue these missed opportunites.

You cant stand the Manager.

So, imo, if he flops, you will be vaulting yourself all over the shop. And winning the internet.

Aye, the first bit's fair enough, but I think someone coming on as a sub and doing well should only really result in them getting a place in the starting eleven if the player they're replacing is out of form.

Subs come on for all sorts of reasons after all.

Did you say the same when Kone scored his hatrick?
