2017/18 Seamus Coleman

Neither Kenny or Coleman will play LB, Sam has said time and time again we will get a LB in.

Coleman and Kenny will fight it out for the spot, which after years of having Hibbert at RB is a superb place to be in.
Probably a mad shout, Coleman at RM, Kenny at RB? Kenny seems more defensive and Coleman loves hugging the line and bombing forward, can score and assist too. Maybe I've been playing too much footie manager lol

I'm going to share my first, and probably last bit of ITK info.

I have seen a scan of Seamus Coleman's leg and there's a large strain or tear from the knee to the upper thigh.

I have no idea how serious it is, but apparently this is what's delaying the come back. He has recovered from the break.

I hope your first and last bit of ITK info is wrong!! ;) We need him back asap, would be very disappointing news if he still has a lengthy layoff remaining.

You need to confirm if it had Royal Blue blood running through it. Otherwise it won't have been his.

I quite like that idea - we have not had balanced width for a long time, and if there's a proper LB with Bolasie or Lookman on the left, it'll be a really good team Kenny-Coleman + Baines-Bolasie for now, would be great

Not for me.

Coleman, like most full backs, is much better picking it up with some space and using strong running to beat his man. When getting it back to goal and with a man tight on him he hasn’t got the skill or touch to turn (aside from that time he sent Cazorla for the Echo).

Two full backs on the same side always tend to just get in eachother’s way, anyhow.

I remember once Phil Neville was captaining the side from the left of midfield, i.e. on the wing. It was in a home game, but I don't know who it was against. I was completely and utterly bamboozled.

yes coleman liked to use the left winger to ping balls into, and then get it back further up the pitch.

each player has a much preferred position. and colemans is 100% a right back. putting him further up the pitch wont enhance his game.

The unfortunate incident in losing Coleman for so long, has seen the emergence of Kenny as a right back who has held his own in the premier league. With every passing game he is getting better and better. There is no reason to rush Coleman back but when he is fully fit it will be a pity that Kenny will be on the bench or will probably go back to the U21s. This will not help his development as he needs to play regularly at a higher level than the U21s. Coleman is the better of the two, and I don't think it would be a good idea to try and shoehorn him back to a right sided midfielder, a right sided wing back maybe. Hope Kenny gets loaned out to a good championship team when Coleman comes back.
