Could this Coleman - Walcott relationship be as good, if not better than, the Baines - Pienaar link up of yesteryear? Early days I know but jeez they got me tingling last night.

Yes, everyone else in that thread thought he would come back and expressed such sentiments there in writing

Of course we thought he’d come back

My point was that giving a player a new deal when there is uncertainty over a serious injury like that is foolish

Irregadless of wether he ever played football again there was a deal agreed but not signed
I’d hate to live in your world if you think it’s acceptable to renege on an agreed deal.
What if he had got injured the day after signing , do you rip it up.

Unfortunately the world does not work like that. Coleman has a value

Believe me in my work places you wouldn’t get the same

Some lads are emotionally incapable they have to search for differing views to there own.

Lol what?

I think we'll leave it there mate, your keen accountant intellect is too much for me

We had already promised him a deal. You wanted to withold a pre agreed contract from one of our best players, someone who had shown great loyalty to us throughout the years, while he tried to recover from a horrific but non career ending injury? A player who only cost us 60 grand? I'm just glad you don't run the club

Well consider changing your job
The deal was agreed just not signed
It would have been reprehensible of any club to back down
What would we have said if Coleman agreed a deal and then at the last minute wanted more.
Just because some clubs may act in a bad manner doesn’t mean Everton should

Tbf, there was a legitimate concern that rushing him back too soon could result in another injury, which would be catastrophic for us. But last night went some way in showing that there is nothing to worry about
ffs Prev, he's bound to do his hammy now!

Look at the glorious man run...long may it continue

With respect, was it common knowledge that it was pre agreed prior to the injury? I am not so sure it was.
Football works in worse ways I agree.
It was common knowledge that the deal was agreed
Kenwright said and while I normally don’t believe a word out of his mouth Coleman said it as well so the deal was agreed

There was no guarantee that he was ever going to be the same following that tackle, and for Everton to commit 15-20m to him on that basis was high high risk. I am delighted it looks like he’s back to his best but I would still query it if we did it again.
The club had no choice but to do it
The deal was agreed just not signed
Of course it was the proper thing to do and anyone who says otherwise needs to have a long look in the mirror and consider their values
I’d say the same if it was Martina

Please tell me Blues arnt rowing about the Club giving him an agreed contract when his leg was shattered? It was well known an extension had been discussed, and Seamus himself said he was made up when Bill and him signed it in hospital/at home.
Aye Roydo
5 or 6 called out over claims they made at the time of the injury that the club was reckless and foolish to give Coleman a new contract.

Got a feeling that he won't start v Arsenal.

The key will be managing his game time as to not overstretch him.

Given he put such a performance in, for 90 minutes, the other day, two games in three matches may be too much.

Like any opinion, there is no evidence to say whether it’s right or wrong as it’s opinion, not fact. This can’t be disproved.

Soz la
So if I have a racist or anti women opinion it’s ok as it can’t be proved to be right or wrong , it’s an opinion not fact
Soz la but when your opinion is disputed by the vast majority of people on the forum the chances are you are wrong and they are right
