Why on earth would you drop him after that performance? He is fit, he's proved it. He's not had a muscle injury and isn't in his mid-30s, "managing his game time" should not be a thing at this point, especially given we're not playing any cup games so he'll get a rest every few weeks anyway.

Because it's all about recovery.

It's got nothing to do with the type of injury.

He's come from nowhere and completed 95 minutes of high-intensity Premier League football. His first senior appearance in over 10 months.

Maybe managing his game time was a bad way of putting it, but managing his levels of fitness moving forward.

Training doesn't prepare you fully to go and then play two games in three days on the back of 10 months out.

..Allardyce articulated it well and I agree that his time will need to be managed. Much of that performance will have been based on adrenalin so muscle fatigue must be a factor. Palace at home is a big game and he gives the place a lift.

Got a feeling that he won't start v Arsenal. The key will be managing his game time as to not overstretch him.

Given he put such a performance in, for 90 minutes, the other day, two games in three matches may be too much.

Agreed. I was amazed that he ran so much on Wednesday - perhaps he was just enjoying playing again. Even so, I expected him to come off after 60 minutes.

It was wonderful to see him back in action, but it's very important that he makes a sustainable return to the first team.

I'd start Coleman again. He would then have a week to recover before Palace and then a further two weeks until Watford.

However, if he is going to miss a match, it makes sense for tomorrow to be it.

Interview with Seamus

Highlight of the piece for anyone not arsed to read it all, sums him up I think

"I knew a couple of days ago that I would be playing. The manager has been talking to me on and off about it and he named the team a couple of days ago. I was ready to go then. I never wanted to use an excuse of 'aw, he's just back.'

"I saw that the manager (Allardyce) said to give me time but when you're back on that pitch, you should be fit enough to play in the Premier League.

"I never wanted to finish up the game and come out and say, 'Well, I'm just back and building into it.' No, I'm back and I'm back to be back."

Agree with resting him if needed. But shouldnt have played 95 mins last day anyway.
