2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

And budget. ;)
Yes, the strongest correlation is between wages and league position. The highest-paying clubs are generally the highest-placing clubs. There is a much stronger correleation between league position and wages than league position and manager quality. Only a small percentage of managers outperform their budgets. We had two in our lifetimes: Howard Kendall and David Moyes.

If the Friedkins provide proper budget and proper oversight, we can expect to move into the top half of the table and stay there for a while. Employ an outperforming manager, and we might get into the CL places...

They are but the truth lies somewhere in between. A point against Newcastle is a decent result as they're a better side than us and will be competing for the European spots. The flipside is that it is a game at home and it's another game where we set up in fear of the opposition and with them taking the game to us rather than us giving a bit more and showing like we are the home side. We aren't the best team in the league by a long stretch but we do have good attacking players such as Ndiaye and McNeil who can give us more than the tactical shape at home sometimes suggests or gives. Every side can be got at in some shape or form but I don't feel like we push that enough.

Don't agree with this to be honest. I thought up until their penalty we were edging it. The set-up wasn't the issue, I think the penalty gave Newcastle momentum and we never recovered/adapted (classic Dyche). But while the manager could have had more of an impact on the game, I do just think last night was their good players performing better than ours. N'Diaye, McNeil and Harrison turned down blind alleys all game and their centre backs too care of DCL easily enough.

We didn't get into any decent rhythm, but defended solidly enough. Those games will happen.

I'll tell you what they wont do if they have any sense: sack a manager this season when they want the club they're buying to safely be in the PL when/if they takeover.

They probably know the square root of f.a. about soccer ball, but no doubt have advisers who'll tell them that Sean Dyche is a reliable pair of hands to get us stable in the PL again for a third season in succession.

Who knows, after proving he can keep an 'asset' safe for that long they might take the sound business decision to leave him in place a little longer and extend his contract. That'd be a wise move IMO, as the first season in a new stadium will need an experienced man at the wheel again to guide us through it.

If it were me, and Dyche again proved this season he can keep us 2/3/4 spots above the relegation zone, I'd hand him a further 12 months on his contract that's coming to an end in May.

Ticket prices are going to go up at the new stadium, a lot of premium seats to fill with premium prices. People will be less willing to fork out those prices to watch the football he serves up.

Yes mate, its the biggest correlation.

What is indicative of our very poor recruitment under Moshiri was our relatively high wage bill vs the positions we brought home in the league, was very very bad comparatively.

Corporate is sold out and so will the season tickets / GA.
If you think Dyche will prevent people selling out BMD I think you are in for a shock.
Dyche has got one more season of this swill to serve up before he’s out on his ear (if he’s lucky)

Crap players equal crap football.

We can keep lambasting manager after manager as much as we want that they should be getting more but sometimes it’s maybe an idea to just give these managers better players.

Guimaraes Tonali Gordon Barnes they’re just a league above quality wise any tbh f we’ve got and they’re not even playing Isaak, even when they do they’ll probably finish about 7th or 8th. We’re a lower mid table squad and that is going to show most games.

If we’re a lower midtable squad then why are we apparently aiming for 17th and why is the manager going to be hailed as a miracle worker if we finish there?

Everything will sell out first season but you want people to keep coming back. People won't pay premium prices year in year out and every week to watch alehouse defensive football.

Another of the Moyes legacy myths.
Check the the Ave league position under Moyes against out average place in the league for wages….

You can only use this excuse for so long,

We have added some quality this year. He picks poor starting teams, makes poor subs and doesn’t make the best of what we have,

He should be improving players too.

Our main 15 players are much better than our results show.

I still ask myself, who is in charge to set up our attack, to develop us in possession.

Steve Stone was a good winger back in the day that also worked under Alan Pardew that played decent direct football at Palace and Newcastle... He surely should have taken something from there.

Does Dyche give Stone this role?

As we said, we should land top bottom half with that squad not being in direct relegation battle. I see very little improvement in 16 months by that coaching stuff.

Agree, the only caveat I’d add to that would be market value wages. We were paying high wages but for players should not have been in that wage bracket as we bought poorly.

Agreed, but like I said, Dyche has got 1 more season if he’s lucky with what’s he’s serving up.
Friedkin hasn’t dropped however many hundreds of millions to fund that.
Dyche is so full of himself he’ll probably be thinking what happened at Burnley is a warning for Everton / Friedkin

Jep, Forest has a pretty good squad now. Wolves look terrible 14 of the last 18 lost, played some tough fixtures, but still. Fulham have a improved squad and also a manager that seems able to progress with the team.

Ipswich won't be an easy ride. Need a better offensive performance than today.

Yes looking at how bad the record actually is v Wolves. Since 2021 played them six times and lost five of them! The draw was 1-1 with Mina scoring in the 97th minute.

Can't afford this season to even just get one point v them as it will give them a boost as they'll probably have a new manager by the time December rolls around and we saw them get up the league pretty quickly when they appointed Lopetegui mid season two years ago.
