2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

You clearly weren’t on here during the Martinez days if you think I’m a Davek multi.

Football is about points though, and actually fans do care about relegation. I’m sure fans of Burnley didn’t appreciate their club’s PL status being used as an experiment by Kompany to showcase his coaching style to other clubs.

The league table is the only objective measurement of football effectiveness. Last season Dyche coached Everton to football that was twice as effective as Kompany’s at Burnley. Out of the 20 teams Kompany’s Burnley played the 19th worst football. That’s not my opinion, it’s a fact, as evidenced by the league table.

If Kompany had come into Everton and brought us 19th with 24 points not a single person would care about any aspect of his football ‘style’ or how quickly he got Bayern Munich playing it once he’d jumped ship from us.

It was kind of a despair move of Bayern as they had many rejections of higher profiled manager. He neither had a connection to Bayern nor he was a proven manager on elite level before this job. I say in his case his reputation as a player still helped him to get the job in one of the biggest club in the world, surely not what he achieved with Burnley overall and he speaks German what is very important for Bayern.

I am still a doubter of him as a manager, but can acknowledge he had a good start at Bayern. You need to be first with their squad obviously, but they were scoring a lot of goals. Lately haven't won any of their last 3 games tho.

This is simply not true.
Our squad is and was a lot better than Burnley's so basing the quality of football on position in the table alone doesn't add up at all.

Garner I think is more a players player or a managers player than a fans player.

Can play in a few positions, rarely has a poor game but is not high profile and doesn't grab headlines.

The kind of player managers love to have in their squads.

Like Kevin Richardson and Alan Harper in the good old days.

Lol.

If we sacked him tomorrow they’d be clubs waiting to sack their managers to bring dyche in.

Are you a davek multi or something?

we were talking about appreciating styles of football. Nothing to do with points and relegation and the fact that better coaches can coach better level of players and be successful with their style of play.

Such as kompany who was relegated with Burnley and more or less immediately signed by bayern to be their new manager and is currently top of the league. Plus hes already installed his own style of play on the team.

Then we have dyche who relegated the same team twice played the worst football too of ever graced this league. Got sacked and no one wanted to touch him with a smelly end of a rag man's trumpet. Apart from our basket case club when the idiots who run were absolutely desperate.

Hes nearly two years into his time here and he hasnt instilled any identity to this team. I dont know what we're trying to on the pitch, theres no evidence of any improvement on players form or attacking play. Were at the same level 2 years in as we were on his first game.

But hey ho let worship the ground dyche walks on because he kept us up last season...
But he hasn't been relegated with an atrocious team. He plays Kompany style, Everton are relegated 100%

Does anyone deny that we had better squad and they played a bit better football?

Dyche won 24! points more on the pitch and that was the double amount of them and 3 times a deserved win in direct duels.

I don‘t think over the 38 games Kompany got that out of the squad that really was possible in terms of results. Finishing behind Luton with a better squad and 100m spent more.

Thankyou for proving my overarching point on here (apart from your last sentence)

Investment in squad quality is far far more important than football style or aesthetic in determining league position.

Your last sentence however, the league table is the ultimate dispassionate measurement of football quality. Football is about keeping the ball out at one end and putting it in the net at the other. The team that does this the best wins the league a the one the worst gets relegated with everyone ranked in position in between. So yes position in the table is determined by quality of football.

Everton were better last season at keeping the ball out at one end and scoring at the other over 38 games than Burnley were ergo played better quality football. Us having better players probably allowed us to do that the same way all the clubs finishing ahead of us had better players than us.

Just run the logic of your post even further, it’s basically saying that even with Kompany playing a football style good enough for Bayern, it didn’t make any difference to Burnley because of the squad quality. It was actually completely irrelevant. Maybe that should be kept in mind in here when people bleat on about football style when Everton managers are given bottom half squads and forced to sell their better players season after season.
