2024/25 Sean Dyche - Sacked

….you’d hope so. I have no doubt about his/their professionalism but I don’t think it’s an ideal scenario to have so many in limbo in key positions.

We may be seeing a bit of it with DCL. Played well at Ipswich but seemed more withdrawn against physicality of Fulham’s defenders on Saturday. He’ll be combative, he’ll continue to lead the line well but I just think there’s an element of doubt when the going is really tough.

Dyche, Thelwell, Stone and Woan all in a bit of limbo as well as a number of players. If TFG are fixed in their determination to change, then we need people in post who can have certainty to make those big calls for today and tomorrow.

I do wonder what impact all the contract situations will have at clutch times this season if any, we have it on a large scale were most of the squad and management team all have uncertain futures.

The counter to that is shop window etc.

….many posters assuming Dyche will have us safe this season after working the oracle last season in even worst circumstances, but I’m warning of having people suffering the from end of contract limbo.

Last season I got a PM from somebody on here who is close to the workings of the club. He told me Dyche was doing a significant amount of work to keep the club going in the absence of a functioning owner and Board, vital work outside the scope of his Manager role. The current off-field situation is more promising but absent owner and Board still applies. I can’t see Dyche continuing to work behind the scenes when his job is in limbo.

Similarly, in his on-field duties you have to wonder if he’ll baulk at making the tough calls and going the extra mile when the new owners haven’t spoken to him. It could be similar with Stone and Woan on the training ground, not engaging in extra one-on-one discussions and training for those that might need it, pretty much doing what they have to.

They’ll all be doing their jobs, they’ll all be trying to impress potential suitors but it’s the extra stuff that could make a huge difference in a relegation dog-fight.

If the new owners are fixed on regime change, I’d be advising them to do it sooner rather than later.

I think they are fair points. That said, I think new owners could help Dyche in that they'll take the extra stuff off his plate and tell him just to focus on the coaching. Additionally, I'd like to think they'll dangle a carrot in front of him to keep him going (even if they don't intend to extend). Lastly, and this is more just opinion, Dyche seems like the kind of fella that keeps working, even if he knows he's off. He's probably going to make a bit of money from releasing the volume of books he has on the club, so it'll be in his interest to be the only manager in the Moshiri years other than Carlo to leave the club with their dignity intact.

In short, I'm currently leaning towards making the change after the season's over rather than during.

I’m genuinely curious about all this “above and beyond” stuff with Dyche, he more than hints at it himself in pressers.

I get that the owner has been absent and the board barely exists but there is a complete business and football hierarchy above and around Dyche- we have a CEO, a finance department, a commercial department and a football department that Thelwell, not Dyche, is head of. We might not have the BEST people in every position but there are qualified people in every role required to run a football club.

So what is all this extra stuff Dyche is required to do above and beyond his own duties? There’s a recruitment team to oversee recruitment, there’s a finance team to oversee the finances. He’s not booking the travel or serving meals in the canteen, there are people for everything required- and if Dyche left today the club would still carry on exactly the same tomorrow.

Yeah, there isn’t an owner sticking his nose in or a chairman giving emotional speeches in the dressing room, and we’re a bit in limbo, but most managers would probably prefer that bit of space and freedom. It’s probably also why he’s still in the job.

This is my big concern. 6 of the team who started on Saturday are either on loan or their contract ends at the end of this season. Plus the manager and his staff.

I just can’t see the Friedkin’s coming in and just sitting on their hands until the summer. If we were a comfortable top 10 team and could just see out the season, then maybe that would be viable. Our squad is not in that position. The idea of playing half a season with the manager and half of the squad in limbo about their future just leaves us open to all manner of problems. We all see next summer as a big reset, but some big decisions have to be made before then.

I would be totally fine with Dyche going with a formation like this and just going down the wing and pumping in crosses, and then pressing aggressively whenever we didn't have the ball

Pickford
Dixon, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, Mykolenko
Ndiyae, Tim, Gana, McNeil
DCL, Beto

Every game would probably stink from a footballing perspective, we’ve got some players not in their natural position, and we wouldn't be winning every week, but maybe we'd at least get to 40-50 points and survive, especially if the players were running around and working hard

That seems tailor made to his management style as well. His aversion to 442 has been a bit baffling to me

From a managerial perspective, it shouldn’t make any difference. Dyche should focus on doing the best job possible to increase his chances of landing another Premier League job in the future. I'm sure that's how he'll be thinking anyway. I'm far from a fan of his but in no way does he seem the type to 'down tools'. If he manages to keep us up comfortably, he’ll walk into another PL job, it'll be a team struggling but I think that's his 'niche' per say. No big clubs going to touch him with a barge pole cos the footballs atrocious, a struggling team 100% will though cos of his track record

I dont think he will either - but as a group together i think there will be a fair bit of instability that will have to be managed as the season goes on systemically.

TBF of the players who started the weekend Young, Docuoure, Gana, Keane aren't the type to not be professional. We have DCL but that is what it is - hel have to play for his move, if not we have options.

Harrison is a bit different has the same contract elsewhere.

Oh, wow. Never put anybody on ignore before. Congratulations. What a knob.

it's hard a crazy position though is it, to care about a goal so early in the season - there is a reason why a lot of people aren't fussed anymore. are you going to block all the people 'at the match' who left before the goal too?

for eg, i didn't know it ended 1-1 until a while after as i was cooking and my reaction in my head was ' that's weird'

He takes the kits home and washes them himself.

Proper gaffer.

It's baffling we haven't at least tried this

All 4 have improved recently, Doucoure was pretty poor on Saturday though. It’s tough for any striker to make an impact when they’re isolated up front with little support but that doesn't excuse his terrible finishing.
